  • Not all disabilities are visible but all people with disabilities deserve an inclusive experience on public transport. Forest Coach Lines is proud to be one of the first regional and outer metropolitan bus operators in New South Wales to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program. The program helps people with non-visible disabilities like autism, dementia, chronic pain, and anxiety. By wearing a distinctive green and yellow sunflower-themed lanyard, they can signal their need for assistance while using public transport. Our drivers in the Far North Coast and Coffs Harbour regions are trained to recognise the Sunflower lanyard and provide the support needed, whether it’s helping with boarding, disembarking, or navigating stressful situations. • Since 2023 National Patient Transport has been supporting Love Your Sister as a Heavyweight Champion supporting Samuel Johnson OAM’s epic fundraising journey, Sam’s 1000. This initiative aims to bring 1000 business together to raise funds for Precision Medicine, a more effective and targeted way of battling cancer by putting patients on the right medicine, first time, every time. Last year, NPT put Love Your Sister stickers on 200 of their patient transport vehicles, giving real visibility to this important cause. Businesses’ support of Love Your Sister is making a real difference to the lives of cancer patients – so far this year more than $300,000 has been raised through extra fundraising activities by Love Your Sister Champions, in addition to their regular contributions. Importantly, 100% of funds raised go directly to research for Precision Medicine. That’s why, this month, NPT will be hosting more fundraising activities at their depots to draw attention to and raise money for this important cause. These events will be open to all NPT and CDC staff to maximise fundraising potential. As Sam has said, "We are the solution. My sister would be so proud. What me and my sister dreamt of for cancer patients is happening now, and businesses that belong to Sam’s 1000 are so vital. They are our lifeblood."

  • Contractual reporting is a key activity when working with Government stakeholders and at CDC NSW, the team work tirelessly to coordinate and complete timely submissions to Transport for New South Wales. The team report on multiple contracts simultaneously - Greater Metropolitan Bus Contracts for Region 4 and Region 14 and the Outer Metropolitan Bus Contracts which includes the Central Coast, the Hunter Valley and Blue Mountains regions. They submit reports monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annually, as well as preparing business plans outlining achievements over the past year. The team welcome Phillip Booth, who has previously performed the contract reporting for RedBus, to the team from July. Thank you (L-R) Lakshmi, Max, Evina, Phillip, Sajana and Syed who ensure that our contractual reporting in NSW is on time and of a high quality. #teamCDC

  • We’re committed to continuously improving our depots and facilities. Investing in our infrastructure means we can continue to enhance the services we provide to our customers and communities. Just some examples of our investments are our Spray Booth, located at our Mildura Paintshop (pictured), which allows us to conduct major onsite resprays and repairs. Meanwhile by installing solar panels at our depots, including Wyndham (pictured) we ensure we are using more sustainable, responsible forms of energy to run our operations. #teamCDC

  • CDC Victoria, in collaboration with the City of Ballarat and V/Line, recently delivered an informative and interactive BusAble session to members of the Chinese Australian Community in Ballarat. The BusAble program aims to provide bus travel education and information to those with accessibility barriers. More than 30 participants attended this session (with a customised presentation in Mandarin alongside an interpreter) and had the opportunity to ask all their questions about accessing public transport, including how to get on a bus, touch on and off the Myki, access the bus ramp and use handrails. CDC Victoria delivers free BusAble community programs across its network, working with accessibility partners to build travel confidence for those with personal accessibility barriers. #accessibility #community

  • We Care for our communities and this new partnership between Red Bus CDC NSW and Coast Shelter is another example of this commitment. Coast Shelter has been serving the Central Coast for over 30 years providing crisis accommodation and assistance to those in need. Announced during a Service Commencement Celebration at the Bateau Bay bus depot, this specially wrapped bus will be a mobile spotlight of the incredible work of Coast Shelter while drawing attention to critical issues like homelessness and domestic violence. Red Bus CDC NSW has also donated $5,000 to support Coast Shelter's crucial work. As David Mead, CDC NSW CEO, puts it: "To be able to help raise awareness and profile for a local organisation that does incredible work is something we are pleased to be able to support."
