📢 Independent Schools Victoria & Consent and Respectful Relationships Education On Monday, Consent Labs had the privilege of attending ISV’s CRRE Providers’ Presentation Day, where we delivered a presentation to numerous Victorian Independent schools on how Consent Labs can support them with bespoke, evidence-based, and engaging consent education. Our team—including co-founders Angelique Wan & Joyce Yu, along with our core Victorian team members Chantel Meehan and Georgie Alexander—had the amazing opportunity to connect with educators, hear their priorities, and discuss how CRRE can be embedded in ways that best suit their school community. 👏 A huge thank you to the schools that joined us and to the team at Independent Schools Victoria for hosting such a valuable event and prioritising consent and respectful relationships education for their ISV member schools.

Year 11 & 12's are busy—but consent conversations can’t wait. 💡 Between exams, formals, and life beyond school, finding time for consent education in senior years can be a challenge. But as students gain independence and step into new social and professional spaces, these conversations are more important than ever. Here are our top tips for making it work: 📌 Adapt to their needs – The most effective sessions meet students where they’re at, filling knowledge gaps and focusing on what they actually want to learn. 📌 Prioritise the most relevant topics – Consent and Intoxication, Navigating Relationships, and Recognising and Responding to Harm are consistently the most relevant and requested topics for senior students as they prepare for life beyond school. 📌 Be strategic with timing – The second half of the year quickly fills up with exams and major events, making Term 1–2 the ideal time to prioritise these conversations. 📌 Make learning practical – Interactive, discussion-based sessions ensure students leave feeling confident and prepared for real-world situations. Ensuring CRRE reaches Year 11 & 12 students means empowering them with the knowledge and skills to navigate life after school with confidence and respect. 👏

Last week, the Consent Labs team had the privilege of attending three incredible International Women’s Day events, each a powerful reminder of the collective work needed to advance gender equality. 🚶♀️ March Forward – Respect in Action Hosted by Ministers Jodie Harrison and Sophie Cotsis MP, this event brought together key leaders to discuss practical steps in creating safer, more respectful workplaces and communities. We were fortunate to hear from Kate Jenkins AO, former Sex Discrimination Commissioner, alongside a panel of experts:  🔷 Michael Rodrigues – 24-Hour Economy Commissioner  🔷 Jill Duncan OAM – Chair, NSW Women’s Advisory Council & Deputy Chair, Disability Council NSW  🔷 Dr Hannah Tonkin – Women’s Safety Commissioner 🌟 NSW Women of the Year Awards An inspiring celebration of leadership and impact. A highlight was hearing from the ‘Ones to Watch’—young girls (7-15) already driving change in their communities. Their passion and drive were a testament to the next generation’s potential to shape a more equitable future. 🎤 Voices of Change – SEFA A powerful discussion on philanthropy, social enterprise, and government—applying a gendered lens to social impact. Each event reinforced that progress requires action – from individuals, businesses, and policymakers alike. A huge thank you to the organisers and speakers for such impactful events.

Last week, our CEO, Angelique Wan, & Partnerships Manager, Chantel Meehan, attended Gender-Based Violence & Community Action, hosted by Melbourne Women's Foundation. It was a powerful conversation about the complexities of gender-based violence, with the central theme being clear: No Woman Left Behind. Preventing gender-based violence starts with education. Equipping young people with knowledge about consent and healthy relationships is essential to driving cultural change and reducing harm. A huge thank you to Patricia Burke OAM & Melbourne Women's Foundation for fostering these critical conversations. The research shows that sexism and disrespect drives violence against women. What may seem like a harmless “joke” normalises harmful attitudes, leading to a culture where violence is more likely to happen. By challenging disrespect whenever we see it, we can help build a future free from violence.
