There was a lot of buzz around the Containers for Change booth at the annual Local Government Association of Queensland state conference this week, with 14 councils expressing interest in rolling out Container Exchange Points (CEPs) across their areas. Containers for Change provides CEPs to councils who attach them to existing assets such as general waste bins or street furniture. CEPs facilitate container recycling by providing a means for people to donate eligible containers when they’re out and about. Community collectors then retrieve the containers and take them to a local container refund point. CEPs not only allow members of the community to safely and easily retrieve bottles, cans and other eligible containers to obtain a refund, they have also helped reduce litter and damage to council bins. #LGAQ2024 #ContainersForChange #LocalGovernmentAssociationOfQueensland #LocalGovernment #EnvironmentalImpact

It’s been nearly a year since we achieved an Australian first with the inclusion of wine and spirit bottles in Containers for Change in Queensland! 🎉 Last Friday night our work to deliver this achievement was recognised when we were honoured with a Highly Commended in the Industry Collaboration of the Year category at the Waste Recycling Industry Association (QLD) inc (WRIQ) 2024 Industry Awards! 🏆 Our CEO Natalie Roach accepted the award on behalf of COEX and the many organisations and individuals that contributed to this success. “This recognition highlights our team's strong commitment to working in partnership with our recycling industry stakeholders, refund point operators, logistics providers, beverage manufacturers, government stakeholders and technology partners to deliver this opportunity for our customers across Queensland,” she said. Since 1 November last year to 30 June this year, adding wine and spirits bottles has boosted glass volumes by 13.4%, providing more glass to the circular economy and also delivering a significant increase in jobs Containers for Change. ♻️ #ContainersForChange #CircularEconomy #WasteRecycling #WRIQ #Sustainability

🎉 We just wrapped up our September operator forums in Townsville and Brisbane which were another great success! These forums provided a fantastic opportunity to connect one-on-one with many of our operators, allowing us to dive deep into regional performance and explore how we can further support their vital roles in Containers for Change through our new programs and initiatives. Our new Network Delivery leads gained valuable insights into the complexities of local operations which will help us better serve our community. Firebirds netball stars share their journey to success! ⭐ At our Townhall this week, we had the privilege of hearing from two highly talented athletes from Netball Queensland & the Queensland Firebirds Lara Dunkley and Macy Gardner. Their stories of professional resilience, dedication to their careers and focus on community impact beyond the netball court were truly motivating. From overcoming coaching changes and personal challenges, to achieving their goals, these athletes are paving the way for the future of netball in Queensland. We were proud to partner with Netball Queensland in season 2024 to increase container collection from their home venue Nissan Arena and promote the benefits of Containers for Change to community netball clubs across the state. It’s been fantastic working with QUT (Queensland University of Technology) through the QUT Impact Lab, where students tackled the challenge of boosting container redemption rates at QUT campuses from FY24 to FY25. The challenge was to triple the number of redeemed containers, a significant task considering that around 10-20% of beverage containers are consumed on campus. The students presented some great ideas to our panel of judges, showcasing their creativity and commitment to sustainability. 🌱 We want to extend a huge congratulations to all the students for their outstanding participation and brilliant ideas. Your efforts are instrumental in helping us move closer to our goal of ensuring 'No Container Goes to Waste' at QUT. ♻️ #Recycling #Innovation #Sustainability #Education #ContainersForChange #SocialImpact #ImpactLab #QueenslandUniversityOfTechnology #QUT

This week we’re celebrating our partnership with the Alex Surf Club & Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club as they reach a major milestone through Containers for Change! 🎉 Since November last year, the club has recycled over 100,000 containers, earning more than $10,000 in refunds. This remarkable achievement not only supports their crucial beach safety initiatives but also highlights the significant impact of community-driven sustainability efforts on the Sunshine Coast. With over $13 million in refunds supporting Queensland charities since 2018, we’re proud to be contributing to a thriving circular economy while making a difference for our communities and environment. ♻️🌊 #ContainersforChange #Sustainability #CommunitySupport #Recycling #Fundraising #SunshineCoast #QLDLifeSaving #AlexandraHeadlandSurfLifeSaving
