What is the difference between arthroscopy and arthroplasty? Arthroscopy is minimally invasive keyhole joint surgery, in these procedures small incisions are made, cameras and specialised tools are inserted and used to surgical treat joint conditions. Arthroscopy is a gold standard treatment for many joint-related issues as it minimises damage, shortens recovery time, and aims to improve patient outcomes. On the other hand, arthroplasty is joint replacement surgery. This is an open procedure which uses a large incision allowing the surgeon to directly operate on arthritic joints to remove the degenerative surface and replace the native joint with an implant.
