  • **Stunning GEN3 GR Supra Supercar model debuts at the legendary Bathurst 1000… Muscular body designed and produced by Toyota Design Australia** Toyota has magnified the energy and excitement at this weekend’s Bathurst 1000 by unveiling a full-size clay model of the GEN3 GR Supra Supercar that will light up the Supercars grid from 2026. Based on the classic rear-drive coupe proportions of the most celebrated model in Toyota’s illustrious sports-car heritage, the reveal of the muscular GR “Supracar” at the world-famous enduro underscores Toyota’s serious intent for Australia’s premier motorsport category. Motorsport enthusiasts have billed the entry of Australia’s market-leading automotive brand into Supercars as the biggest news in local motorsport history – and the best-kept secret in local motor racing ahead of its official announcement on 18 September this year. The stunning clay model of the race car’s curved, powerful body – re-imagined and produced by the Melbourne-based Toyota Design Australia team – is instantly recognisable for its iconic Supra shape. The clay model’s expressive exterior was further influenced by styling cues from the original FT-1 Supra concept from 2014. It also pays homage to Toyota’s performance, design and racing heritage as well as much-loved sports cars including the 2000GT, Celica and MR2. Athleticism is expressed with taut surfaces and racing-focused wide fenders, front splitter and rear diffuser, side skirts and a large Supercar rear wing. Purposeful airflow management, to be validated by aero testing, reinforces the car’s track-ready nature which is further emphasised by the passenger side of the model featuring satin black paint and dominant TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia (GR) decals. The dramatic bodywork was revealed in Mount Panorama’s pit lane garages by Toyota Australia’s Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley and Senior Manager of Toyota Design Australia, Nic Hogios. “Our design team has amped up the car significantly, giving fans a fresh perspective of GR Supra performance through a car that instantly looks like it owns the track,” Mr Hogios said. “We are enthusiasts first and foremost, and the GR Supra Supercar is the kind of project we dream about working on. We can’t wait to see it competing and winning in Supercars, including right here at Bathurst,” he said. Mr Hanley said Toyota’s decision to enter Supercars would reinforce the “fun to drive” spirit that is intrinsic to Toyota’s commitment to making ever-better cars. “Taking part in the heat of Supercars, as well as other racing and rallying series around the world, provides technical learnings that can be transferred to the development of our entire range of vehicles – not just our sports cars,” Mr Hanley said. “We are looking forward to building on the passion among enthusiasts for our GR range and to generating interest and excitement among motorsport fans, including those who are new to our brand.

  • STYLISH NEW TOYOTA CAMRY SEDAN ARRIVES IN AUSTRALIA WITH LATEST-GENERATION HYBRID ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN Toyota has launched its new hybrid-only Camry range in Australia, with a new-generation Hybrid Electric powertrain, stylish exterior and interior redesign, and substantially upgraded multimedia and active safety technologies. Reflecting Toyota’s commitment to fuel-saving technologies and its multi-pathway approach to decarbonisation, the new Camry sees the introduction of Toyota’s fifth-generation 2.5-litre Hybrid Electric powertrain to its Australian lineup for the first time. The new generation Hybrid Electric powertrain delivers more power, improved drive performance and reduced fuel consumption of just 4.0L/100km1. Complementing the new powertrain is a sleek exterior design which adopts Toyota’s Hammer Head design language, along with the addition of Toyota’s latest active safety technologies and increased standard equipment for comfort and convenience. The first fifth-generation 2.5-litre Hybrid Electric powertrain is exclusively offered in the Camry, delivering improvements to all-round driveability while also reducing fuel consumption by up to 11 per cent depending on grade, compared to the previous generation 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain. At the same time, the combined Hybrid Electric system power output has been increased by 10kW to 170kW, compared to the outgoing Camry, generated through a combination of the 138kW/221Nm 2.5-litre petrol engine and 100kW/208Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor mounted on the front axle. The front and rear are defined by the bold Hammer Head design concept with its functional and stylish aerodynamic elements, while in profile the character lines that converge at the rear, along with a more tapered rear roofline, give the new Camry a distinctively dynamic appearance. The new-look design continues inside the new Camry, with a sophisticated cabin featuring a sculpted dash and door trims that create a seamless flow, which combined with the high-quality materials and textures, provide an elegant and premium ambience. Digital instrumentation displayed on either 7-inch or 12.3-inch screens depending on the grade, provides easy-to-read and extensively customisable options for driving and vehicle information while all climate, audio and driving controls are placed for safe and ergonomic functionality. Building on the upgraded interior is Toyota’s latest-generation multimedia system, featuring cloud-based satellite navigation, and Bluetooth® connectivity and is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay®5 and Android Auto™, with either 8-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen displays, depending on the grade. The Toyota Service Advantage provides Camry owners with five years of capped-price servicing, spread over 12-month or 15,000km intervals at a price of $255 per service.

  • TOYOTA TUNDRA APPROVED FOR SALE IN AUSTRALIA FROM NOVEMBER **Tundra Limited to go on sale in Australia in November 2024 with Australian top-of-the-range premium grade to launch in Q2, 2025** Toyota’s full-size Tundra pickup will officially go on sale in Australia in November 2024 following final approval of the local re-engineering project by Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan. Toyota Australia partnered with Walkinshaw Automotive Group to re-engineer the US-built Tundra from left-hand drive to right-hand drive, with the vehicle to be produced at Walkinshaw’s manufacturing facility in Melbourne. This is the first time Toyota has worked with a third-party organisation for such a project anywhere in the world and is the culmination of six years of development to ensure the right-hand drive Tundra meets Toyota’s exacting global quality, durability and reliability standards. Toyota Australia Vice President Sales Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said this was a momentous achievement that sets a new benchmark for re-engineering quality to give its customers even greater choice of vehicles to meet their specific needs. “This is not just a “simple” left to right-hand drive conversion,” Mr Hanley said. “The Tundra has been completely re-engineered by Toyota engineers working in close collaboration with Walkinshaw and uses many parts and components from other Toyota vehicles such as LandCruiser 300 Series to ensure the very highest quality standards”. The new Tundra will initially be launched in Limited grade with a new Australian top-of-the-range premium version to join it in Q2, 2025. Both versions sit on the proven TNGA-F platform that underpins the LandCruiser 300 Series and are powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 i-FORCE MAX powertrain that generates 326kW of power and 790Nm of torque and drives through a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Tundra’s powerful engine is mated to a part-time 4WD system with a dual-range transfer case and offers a huge 4.5-tonne braked towing capacity. In Limited guise, the Tundra will be very well equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels, LED lights, leather-accented seats with power adjustment, heating and ventilation for the driver and front passenger, 14-inch multimedia touchscreen with a 12-speaker JBL® audio system and wireless Apple CarPlay® and wired Android Auto™ compatibility, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, and trailer brake controller. The new premium grade is distinguished on the outside by its unique grille, black painted alloy wheels, black-accented tailgate, a panoramic moonroof and other cosmetic changes. Inside, it takes the luxury to a new level with standard equipment including leather-accented seats that offer a massage function for the front and heating and ventilation for the rear outboard positions, power adjustable steering column and heated steering wheel, and 10.9-inch head ups up display.

  • TOYOTA RAV4 LEADS MARKET WITH HIGHEST SALES IN ITS HISTORY **RAV exceeds 6,000 vehicles for the first time in any month** **Hybrid vehicles accounted for 55.5% of Toyota sales in August** **Toyota is averaging more than 20,000 sales a month this year**   Toyota’s RAV4 has achieved its highest monthly sales in the model’s 30-year history, making it Australia’s best-selling vehicle for the month of August. A total of 6,712 examples of the popular mid-size SUV were delivered to local customers last month, of which almost 95 per cent were hybrids. The RAV4 total in August was dominated by the sale of 6,342 hybrids – a tally that would have enabled the petrol-electric variants to top the sales chart in their own right. RAV4 was the biggest contributor to Toyota’s market-leading August total of 21,490 vehicles, which translates into a market share of 21.9 per cent. It is the third time RAV4 has been Australia’s best-selling vehicle this year and the fifth time overall. August was the sixth consecutive monthly record for RAV4 and the first time the model has exceeded 6,000 sales in a month. The previous record of 5,933 deliveries was set in July this year. The only Toyota vehicle that has posted a higher monthly total is HiLux with 7,582 vehicles in June 2022. Well over half (55.5%) of Toyota’s August total, or 11,931 vehicles, were equipped with hybrid-electric powertrains. August was the third time Toyota’s hybrids have topped 10,000 deliveries in a month. It was also the third time in four months that more than half Toyota’s sales have been hybrid. Toyota has now sold a record 81,378 hybrids this year, which represents 49.2 per cent of the company’s total deliveries. Toyota has posted more than 20,000 sales in each of the past five months, lifting its eight-month total to 165,496 vehicles – an average that also exceeds 20,000 deliveries a month. The eight-month total is 31,749 vehicles or 23.7 per cent higher than the 133,747 vehicles retailed in the same period last year. Toyota’s Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations Sean Hanley said the sales results provide further evidence of the enduring appeal of hybrid technology in the Australian market. “Our strategy is all about offering choice to meet the needs and desire of all Australian customers, leaving no-one behind,” Mr Hanley said. “This includes our extensive hybrid range headlined by the addition of a new Camry; the space, style and comfort of our SUVs; and the ability to tow heavy loads and get off the beaten track in one of our four-wheel drives,” he said. “Right vehicle. Right place. Right time.”

  • 🏆 BEST-SELLING RAV4 SETS NEW MONTHLY RECORD AS CUSTOMERS TURN TOWARDS TOYOTA HYBRIDS 🥇 🥈 🥉 **Toyota RAV4 more popular than ever with 5,933 sales, number-one position in July** **Toyota sets monthly hybrid sales record, topping 12,000 units for the first time** **Toyota achieves over 50 per cent hybrid sales mix for second time in three months *   Toyota’s popular RAV4 medium SUV has continued its success in 2024, topping the sales charts in July with a record 5,933 units sold, eclipsing the previous record of 5,857 units only two months prior. Toyota’s fuel-saving hybrid technology also resonates more strongly than ever with official figures showing a monthly record 12,686 Hybrid Electric (HEV) sales across all model lines, demonstrating the improving supply to satisfy customers’ ever-increasing demand for hybrid-electric powertrains. The 12,686 hybrid sales marked only the second time that Toyota has sold 10,000 hybrids in a month, and the second time that hybrid powertrains outsold all other fuel types with 55.9 per cent of the 22,705 July tally – its highest percentage on record. Of the record 5,933 RAV4s sold, 93.4 per cent of those were hybrids, which would make the RAV4 Hybrid the best-selling vehicle for the month on its own. The switch to a hybrid-only range on multiple model lines range saw HEV sales also dominate for the Camry (94.5 per cent), Corolla sedan and hatch (96 per cent), Corolla Cross (99.4 per cent) and Kluger (86.6 per cent). The 12,686 hybrid sales meant that Toyota hybrids outsold the next-best performing brand by nearly 50 per cent, a testament to the popularity of the smooth and efficient fuel-saving powertrain technology with Australian buyers. Including sales of the bZ4X Battery Electric SUV and Mirai fuel-cell electric sedan, Toyota’s share of electrified vehicle sales rises to 56.3 per cent. Other strong performers for the month included the HiLux (4,747), Corolla hatch and sedan (2,658), Kluger (1,705) and Camry (1,498), all of which helped contribute to Toyota’s commanding 22.8 per cent market share. Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operation Sean Hanley said the impressive hybrid sales reflected the hard work of Toyota’s dealership network and production teams to deliver as many vehicles as possible to waiting customers. “Achieving a hybrid sales record for the second time this year shows just how much our customers value our fuel-saving technology, and it’s a testament to our dealer network who have been working around the clock to get vehicles delivered to customers,” Mr Hanley said. “With supply levels stabilising, we’ve also seen how popular the RAV4 is with Australians, who appreciate the amenity, signature reliability and powertrain smoothness that our best-selling SUV offers.” #Toyota #Hybrid #Electric #bestsellingcar #salesrecord
