  • 🎉 6 Weeks to Go Until Craft + Design Canberra Festival 2024! 🎉 . We’re getting closer, and today we’re giving you a sneak peek of Narelle White’s gorgeous work, which will be part of the Speculative Materialism exhibition. Responding to the Festival theme, Regenerate, this exhibition delves into the regenerative potential of materials and how creative solutions can tackle environmental challenges. https://ow.ly/cQq650TnO4r . Hand-pressed in a blend of harvested marine sands and porcelain, Narelle’s ceramic sculptures fuse geologic and mythic references, their weathered patinas evoking ancient stone or nomadic carvings. These kiln-fired sculptures are not permanent but are slowly eroding, inviting us to reimagine our relationship with materials and their origins. 🌊✨ . Save the date and get ready to be wowed from 1–10 November! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue the countdown. . • 🌿✨ Behind the Scenes of Urban Biome! ✨🌿 . Check out this exciting update from Thor Diesendorf, one of the creative thinkers behind Urban Biome. Urban Biome is a collaborative project that celebrates regenerative design and innovate thinking. The modular planter decking tiles and boxes will be installed in Civic Square as part of this year's Craft + Design Canberra Festival. 🛠️🌱 . Thor and his team have been working on prototypes using Lignoloc, a nailing system that uses wooden nails instead of traditional steel—no steel at all! The Lignoloc system relies on the natural lignin in the timber, activated by heat and pressure, to bond the materials together. 🔨🌳 . The result? A beautifully sustainable and innovative solution that aligns perfectly with the 'regenerate' theme of Urban Biome. 🌍💚 Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to transform materials and design with sustainability in mind! . #UrbanBiome #CraftandDesignCanberra #CDCFestival2024 #SustainableDesign #InnovativeCraft #BehindTheScenes #Regenerate
