CulturalPulse and our panel experts have rocked the stage at SXSW Sydney! Our panel, ‘The Birth of Australia’s First AI Virtual Midwife’, brought real-life stories to the forefront as we explored how women navigate their pregnancy journeys. From the challenges of accessing the right information to overcoming language and cultural barriers, we dove into some important issues facing multicultural women and their families. The solution—‘Virtual Midwife’. An Australian first and the focal point for our discussion as we talked about how effective in-culture and in-language communications can empower women and act as a guide by providing easily accessible and tailored patient care. We heard powerful insights from a mother, doctor, tech, and multicultural perspective on how this AI solution is tackling antenatal care disparities. Our Virtual Midwife tool aims to make maternal healthcare more accessible and inclusive for all women across Australia. Some highlights… 🗣️ Dr. Kavita Krishnan highlighted the importance of patient-centric care, emphasising how understanding motherhood journeys and cultural beliefs can improve maternal care, especially in multicultural communities. 🗣️ Reg Raghavan talked about how the Virtual Midwife tool is breaking down barriers and offering personalised care to better support and bridge the gap between women and doctors alike. 🗣️ Amanda Morkos shared about her own experience and challenges navigating the healthcare system as a new mother, and how AI can help guide families through pregnancy. A huge thank you and congratulations to our moderator and panellists Mary Coustas, Dr. Kavita T. Krishnan, Reg Raghavan, and Amanda Morkos. The CulturalPulse team attended the Multicultural Insights Conference (MIC) in Melbourne! 🙌 It was an inspiring day packed with fresh ideas, young voices, and practical strategies for connecting with and supporting multicultural youth. We dived into discussions about building culturally safe spaces, co-designing programs, and hearing firsthand from passionate young professionals about what really works to engage and empower. We left feeling energised, with new connections and perspectives to bring back to our work at CulturalPulse in authentically engaging multicultural communities. Huge thanks to Third Culture Australia, Krushnadevsinh (Kano) R., and the entire team for putting together such a great conference! Looking to understand how community connections drive business decisions in migrant communities? Chinese (1.4M) and Indian (1.1M) communities are among Australia’s largest diasporas, known for their collectivist values. This means word of mouth and community recommendations play a huge role in shaping their choices. 👫 Effective multicultural marketing means tapping into these trusted networks for real impact. Listen to the full Brain Splat Podcast for an insightful conversation between Roland Layoun and Patrick Skene. https://lnkd.in/gdPxRvCJ

Multicultural Footy! A joy to be part of a historic moment as Hon Minister Steve Kamper announced a $200,000 funding partnership for Heritage Rugby League NSW from the Office of Sport. I was honoured to be MC and my event intro was as follows: "In 1895 working class northern English men broke away from rugby union because rugby union refused to compensate injured players who had to take time off working in the mines, the factories and the wharves." "The people’s game was born, rugby league - the only game in the world found on the principle of inclusion and it spread to Australia in 1908." "When the game's Australian founders went bankrupt at the end of 1908, a brave team of Maori rugby union players defected, toured Australia and financially saved the game that grew into the NRL juggernaut we see today." "So multicultural communities have played a role in the founding of the game and they have always loved rugby league." "From the Italians and Greeks who migrated for the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric scheme to the Lebanese, Maltese, Macedonians, Serbians and Vietnamese of the 1980s and 90’s to the mighty Pasifika and Maori communities, Thais, Africans, Filos, Latinos, Japanese, Chinese and Indians today and of course our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island brothers and sisters, the game is loved by millions and it remains the game that welcomes everybody." "Heritage Rugby League matches have been played since 1982 and three years ago we decided to get serious, grouping teams into pools and having our first organised, structured season." "Last year 1950 players registered to play including 45% females, and a whopping 79 matches were played between the 27 communities who are affiliated." "As an illustration of rugby league’s continued relevance, two recently arrived war torn refugee communities, Syria and the Ukraine, are Heritage Rugby League’s newest and most enthusiastic members." "And the growth continues at pace - next year we will be adding two new Asian superpowers – India and China." -- As a director of Heritage Rugby League, I'm immensely proud of Javed Hamidi and the board. Long live the people's game!
