Proud to share that Dahlsens Wyong Truss & Frame has won the Best Frame and Truss Operation at the National Timber & Hardware Association (NTHA) 2024 NSW & ACT Timber & Hardware Industry Awards! Wyong Branch Manager, Danni White, with Nick Barnes, NSW Manufacturing Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the Dahlsens Wyong team. According to the NTHA, "This year’s awards have highlighted exceptional achievements and contributions across our industry. These winners have shown outstanding performance and commitment, setting a high standard for the timber and hardware sector. Their accomplishments are a testament to the talent and dedication within our industry." We certainly agree! Our truss and frame team at Wyong are guns. In fact we are proud of our 12 truss and frame teams across NSW, Victoria and ACT for their commitment to manufacturing quality frames with excellent detailing, topped off by first class customer service. We're pleased to announce that Peter Geard (pictured right) has officially stepped into the role of CEO at Dahlsens. Peter is the first non-family CEO in our 147-year history, bringing a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to our beloved family business. Joining Peter in this leadership journey is Mark Cooper (pictured left), General Manager of Dahlsens, who continues to play a pivotal role in driving our success. Peter, a familiar face to the Dahlsens team and the building supplies industry, had an extensive tenure as General Manager at Cairns Hardware and currently serves as General Manager of National Merchandise at Dahlsens. His previous experience includes long-standing leadership positions in the industry. This leadership change is part of the Dahlsen family's succession plan as Geoff Dahlsen (pictured centre) transitions to Co-Chair (and eventually Chair), with John Dahlsen, the owner, planning to retire by 2025. This marks an exciting new chapter for the company. With 74 trade and manufacturing sites, Dahlsens combines national strength with local service. We look forward to continuing our commitment to support builders.

Thanks to Leigh Allchin, owner of Allchin | Commercial & Residential Construction, for having us on site for a couple of hours at this Inverloch project. Leigh is doing a complete upgrade and overhaul of a 1970's classic A-frame. Leigh made an interesting material choice that added the wow factor and came with a host of other benefits: he swapped out the standing seam metal cladding for Hardie™ Oblique™ Cladding by James Hardie. Take a look inside the Master Builders Australia Contract Home of the Year $1M - $2M for 2023, built with expert craftsmanship and the finest attention to detail by Kane Harrison of Evolving Construction. We loved speaking to Kane about his determination to achieve superior results for his clients, about finding materials and finishes that compliment the surroundings and have longevity with minimal upkeep. With his Dahlsens Gosford account manager, Dave Milton, Kane worked with Hurford Wholesale to achieve a rough sawn, off mill look with their Wood Elements Coulee cladding in ironbark. He then paired this with Shou Sugi Ban, also from Hurford’s, on the exterior, and finished screening and window frames by charring them himself. In this video, Kane tells us about the project, shares his passion for building high-end custom homes and how winning this award - on top of the six others this home had already won - is a fantastic recognition of all the years of hard work by him and the Evolving team. Thanks to James Hardie for hosting a fantastic two day design tour to Brisbane for a group of customers and their Dahlsens account managers. So fascinating touring the factory at Carole Park and seeing the production of James Hardie products in full flight. Did you know all James Hardie fibre cement products are made in Australia? We also got to see the whole range of products in situ and get updates on the latest innovations such as the new My Hardies platform that includes a visualiser tool that builders can use to help inspire their clients with 3D designs based off trends in the market, take-off service where builders can upload their plans to get a full BOQ measured for claddings and accessories, calculator tool and technical guides. Many thanks to everyone involved including Luke Cheng, Michael Pagotto, Ricky Halabi, and Darcy Brooks from James Hardie. Well worth the trip!
