A massive thanks to the Knowledge Translation and Evaluation Support Network (KTEN) at Deakin University for asking me to speak on addressing health #equity through implementation science this week! I just love speaking about equity and how we can decolonise traditional research practices to ensure the future of research is equity-focused. Enjoyed sharing the webinar with Elly Ganakas who is an absolute star in the making! Can a new app improve hospital patient experience and nursing communication at bedside handover? New #research from Penelope Casey and the team leading healthcare innovation, developed and tested a prototype app co-designed with consumers, to support patient-nurse communication in hospital. Using the app created new opportunities for patient-centred communication, through enabling hospital patients to express what matters most to them to their bedside nurse. Development of the app was possible through collaboration between the Deakin School of Nursing & Midwifery and Centre for Quality and Patient Safety Research in the Institute for Health Transformation, A2I2 Applied AI Institute, and Eastern Health, with Eva Yuen, PhD, Raj Liskaser, Philippa Blencowe, Leanne Boyd, Mohamed Abdelrazek, Zoe Wang, and Julie Considine AO. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to attend the #FECCA_Conference_2024 held in Brisbane, Queensland. I showcased my research work, connected with people dedicated to advance multicultural Australia, listened to inspiring policy directions from Authorities, and networked with both old and new friends. I would like to express my gratitude to professor Linda Sweet and Dr. Vidanka Vasilevski for their unwavering support in my journey toward achieving my career goal.
