Meet Heather Carter, the assistant principal at Ngukurr School. Originally from the United Kingdom, Heather first studied in Darwin before moving to the Northern Territory’s Big Rivers region where she completed university placements as a classroom teacher at Ngukurr School. Seven years on and Heather is now helping lead the school as the assistant principal. Heather’s education journey with Ngukurr School has seen her grow both personally and professionally. From a classroom teacher creating a welcoming and enjoyable learning environment, to assistant principal being a safe and supportive role model for students to look up to. "Teaching in the Territory has been truly life changing and there are way too many rewarding experiences to count. One of the main ones has been building relationships with students across the school and seeing the positive impacts this has on their attendance and progress,” Heather said. A terrific example of the opportunities provided by Teaching in the Territory!
