We're driving innovation for a cleaner, more sustainable Queensland! 🌱 💡 Through the $4 million Queensland Bioenergy Fund, we're supporting projects focused on advancing biomass-to-electricity technologies and backing innovative research into clean energy. Projects receiving funding include Kalfresh Vegetables Bioenergy Facility in the Scenic Rim, and co-generation evaluations in several sugar mills (by the Australian Sugar Milling Council, Wilmar Sugar Australia Limited and TULLY SUGAR LIMITED). This is another step towards meeting renewable energy targets and futureproofing Queensland.

Three innovative Queensland businesses are set to shape the future of renewable industries and create jobs of tomorrow, thanks to the Queensland Government's Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) Collaborative Project Fund. 🔸 Ausroad Blast Technologies is developing a cutting-edge solution to accurately measure blast hole conditions on mining and infrastructure sites. 🔸 Evolution Mining is exploring a vertically integrated metals refinery using mine waste to produce critical minerals and a sulphuric acid by-product. 🔸 Central Queensland Metals is evaluating the potential to produce a magnetite iron concentrate with vanadium and titanium co-products. As the METS sector continues to grow, these projects will drive Queensland’s push towards a greener, more sustainable future!

Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Asia-Pacific 2024 in Singapore was a vibrant discussion of all things maintenance, repairs and operations in aerospace, as the Queensland Government partnered with MRO Asia-Pacific to showcase our local expertise. With our focus on cultivating a thriving aerospace sector to connect Queenslanders to regional, domestic and international destinations, the conference provided the perfect opportunity to engage with stakeholders in the civilian and defence industry to highlight common issues, industry trends and opportunities in career development. 🔬 Exciting news for Queensland’s biomedical sector! Griffith University, Mater Research, Bond University and Southern RNA have been awarded a share of over $300,000 in grants through Round 4 of the Queensland Biomedical Business Attraction Program (QBBAP). The successful projects from South Korea, the USA and Victoria being supported by these recipients include: 🔹 Contributing to the development of an intranasal mRNA treatment for respiratory infections 🔹 Improving donor liver viability for transplant 🔹 Conducting a proof-of-concept study for interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome 🔹 Manufacturing mRNA for cancer cell therapies QBBAP is a key initiative of the Queensland Biomedical 10-Year Roadmap and Action Plan, designed to attract interstate and international biomedical industry to access Queensland’s biomedical capability.

Creating new jobs, bringing new skills and capabilities to established and emerging industries across the state. Almost 70 percent of Industry Partnership Program (IPP) projects are in regional Queensland creating more than 3,300 new jobs over the next 10 years. These are jobs for a diverse range of workers, including engineers, scientists, labourers, drivers, machinery operators, technicians, trade workers, as well as new apprentices.
