  • 💜‘Your Passion, Your Pride’💜 Everyone has the right to be proud of who they are.     DPC and Public Sector Commission came together to support Wear it Purple Day with a purple bake-off, guest speaker and best dressed morning tea. 🌈    Our people had the pleasure of hearing from guest speaker, Eugene Ramsden, Project Support Officer from Youth Disability Advocacy Network Inc. - YDAN. They spoke about their lived experience as a queer person with disabilities, acknowledging and celebrating the full spectrum of our intersecting identities – be it disability, LGBTQIA+ identity, race, gender – or any aspect of who we are, and ways to foster genuine inclusion and respect for all individuals in the workplace and beyond.   A huge thanks to our DPC and PSC Ally Network for organising another fabulous bake-off and for always providing resources and opportunities on how we can help everyone bring their true self to work. 💪💯    Just look at our amazing purple outfits! 🎂💜    #Inclusion #WearItPurple #LGBTQIA #PrideAtWork #YourPassionYourPride

  • At our Department’s latest Speaker Series in partnership with Leadership WA, Kane Blackman, CEO of Good Sammy Enterprises, shared his personal reflections on making a positive impact by leading with purpose. Kane is a passionate leader who advocates for social inclusion and sustainability through his work, inspired by his lived experience as a father of a child with disability. As part of his role at Good Sammy, Kane is also a powerful advocate for the circular economy, through recycling, redesigning and repurposing items to minimise landfill.  With 1 in 6 people living with disability, Good Sammy is also committed to creating employment opportunities for people with disability. Kane encouraged our staff attendees to: 🔹 lead with purpose and authenticity and bring their whole selves to the work they do.  🔹 be socially inclusive by staying informed, supportive and getting involved  🔹 drive their own career path by actively seeking and taking up opportunities for growth  🔹 re-think failure by finding the value, connections and lessons that can come from it  🔹 make good choices to reduce waste and support purposeful organisations such as Good Sammy.  Inspiring new ways of thinking and working, the Speaker Series supports our Department’s Strategic Plan to deliver a brighter future for WA.
