  • As most of us knock off for the weekend, the City of Perth’s parks maintenance team will be busy keeping our city sparkling. 🌳 The team are on the ground seven days a week to ensure our 120 hectares of green spaces stay pristine, safe, and ready for our residents and visitors to enjoy. Their days are busy – collecting rubbish, emptying bins, cleaning barbecues, mowing lawns, pruning trees, and maintaining gardens. Wellington Square, in particular, gets extra attention, with rubbish picked up twice a day and regular safety checks to keep the play space clean and hazard-free. It’s a big job, but the team loves seeing their hard work pay off, especially when the parks are buzzing with people enjoying the space. And while they’re dedicated to keeping things looking great, we can all do our part by cleaning up after ourselves and reporting any issues through the Snap Send Solve mobile application: https://lnkd.in/gDjeZNiv. Next time you’re in one of our parks, take a moment to appreciate the hard work that goes into keeping them looking their best!

  • Our City has been kicking goals at CERAWeek, in Houston USA – the ‘Superbowl’ of the global energy sector. While attending World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) commitments, City of Perth Councillor Steven Wellard and our General Manager Infrastructure and Operations, Allan Mason, have been taking the chance to meet with industry and government thought leaders in the global sustainable energy transition including the Greater Houston Partnership, which is Houston’s version of our Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The extensively insightful CERAWeek program has offered plenty of takeaways about how our City can continue to contribute to, and enable, the global energy transition, including hearing from Perth’s very own CEO Woodside Meg O'Neill. Cr Wellard also participated in the CERAWeek Agora Innovation panel ‘Cities’ Blueprints for a Net Zero Future’, offering thoughts on the role cities can play in achieving net zero emissions. He noted how Perth shapes as a model for sustainability considering its position as a key southern hemisphere gateway to significant sustainable energy transition expertise and resources. From smart energy systems that power street lighting, to smart irrigation systems and building out City’s EV charging network, our City remains committed to working towards a net zero emissions future.
