Updates

  • Local ports are vital to businesses and communities, supporting commercial fishing, marine industries, recreation, and tourism. We're seeking feedback on proposed updates to the regulations that guide the management of Victoria’s local ports. These updates will help ensure they continue to operate effectively and efficiently into the future. Have your say by completing our survey or submitting feedback via https://lnkd.in/ePvd8vKh

  • We spoke to thousands of people from across the state to help shape Plan for Victoria! Working with cultural ambassadors, we heard from culturally and linguistically diverse communities about what matters most - affordable homes near transport, schools, and parks, plus more jobs in regional areas. Their insights are shaping a plan by Victorians, for Victorians, replacing Plan Melbourne 2017–2050 to create vibrant, liveable, and sustainable communities. Watch the video to learn more!

  • Young Victorians will be the most impacted by long-term planning decisions, so ensuring their voices shaped the Plan for Victoria was a key priority. Alongside YLab, and through a co-design approach, we empowered young people to engage with their social groups and share their perspectives. From the need for more affordable and diverse housing to safer public transport—especially for young women, LGBTQIA+ young people, First Peoples young people, and culturally diverse communities—their insights are shaping a plan for a fairer, more inclusive future. Watch the video to hear directly from them!

  • Everyone has the right to feel safe on public transport. Our new Passenger Safety campaign with Victoria Police launched today, educating, empowering and encouraging passengers to take action. 🔹 We’re raising awareness of unwanted sexual and anti-social behaviours on public transport. 🔹 We’re encouraging bystanders and those most vulnerable - including women, girls, LGBTIQA+ and multicultural communities - to report incidents to Victoria Police’s STOPIT service. 🔹 We’re working to improve perceptions of safety across the network. 📲 If you experience or witness unwanted behaviour on public transport, text STOPIT to 0499 455 455. NOTE: STOPIT is not monitored live. More information at ptv.vic.gov.au/stopit.

  • We took myki on tour! During O-Week, we headed out to universities across Melbourne, including La Trobe, Swinburne, Monash, Federation, and Deakin to chat to new and returning students about myki. The team connected with over 5,200 students, having conversations about all things myki - from International Student Travel Passes to Mobile myki and instant top-ups. Some highlights from the week: ✅ Nearly 1,000 International Student Travel Passes added - a record-breaking week! ✅ Over 200 PTV app demos and 80+ Mobile myki Google Wallet setups ✅ 2,000+ myki info postcards shared to help students get moving ✅ Over 1 million myki Money top-ups, with PTV digital channels hitting a record 25.5% of transactions With the semester now in full swing, we’re thrilled to see Victorian students using myki to travel smarter and easier. Thanks to everyone who stopped by - we’ll see you on board!

  • Last week, we celebrated International Women’s Day - but let’s keep putting more women on the map, literally! Our Remember a Local – Name a Place program is your chance to nominate an inspiring woman who has left a lasting legacy in your community to be honoured in Victoria’s landscape. Like former curator and Merri-bek resident Michelle Guglielmo, we want to hear about more women who deserve recognition. Who inspires you? Whose legacy should be remembered? They could have a street, building, or park named after them! Submit your nomination today 👉 https://lnkd.in/g56VeFV6 #IWD2025

  • We’re proposing new planning protections across 17 of Melbourne’s rivers and creeks to ensure our waterways are protected from the impacts of new developments. By taking care of these waterways, we help build a better environment, improve our quality of life, and create stronger, more adaptable communities for the future. The proposed planning protections will help protect the landscape across different areas, including private and public land. Tell us what you think of our proposed protections: https://bit.ly/41tzxzt. Feedback closes 23 March.
