🏠 Property market delivers record profits for Australians 📈 Profits on property sales reached their highest level in over a decade, with 96% of houses and 90.7% of units across Australia reselling for a profit last financial year. A higher proportion of homeowners in regional areas walked away with a profit compared to the cities. The median profit made across combined capitals was $395,000, compared to the median loss of $73,000. Brisbane was the best city performer, with 99.5% of houses and 95.6% of units making a profit. The suburbs that are leading profit gains are dominated by Generation X and older Millennials. Today, Domain released FY24 Full Year Financial Results. Domain’s strong FY24 results are a reflection of our Marketplace strategy, the talent and innovation of our team, and the benefits of an improving property market backdrop. We remain optimistic about the opportunities for our Marketplace, and the potential available to us to become a much bigger business.

Last night Australia’s favourite renovation show, The Block, premiered its first episode in picturesque Phillip Island. Not only does 2024 mark its 20th season, but also an incredible 10-year partnership between Domain and Nine’s No.1 rating renovation program. 🏡 Australian Home Price Growth Slows 🏡 An indication that the heat may be coming off the housing market. House prices across combined capitals rose for the sixth consecutive quarter, maintaining a consistent pace with the previous quarter, but slowing compared to the 2023 quarterly gains. Unit price growth decelerated significantly, with the weakest quarterly outcome since early 2023, growing at a rate four times slower than the previous quarter. This has led to a slowdown in annual gains for the first time this growth cycle for both combined capital house and unit prices. This morning, we partnered with NORA ~ National Online Retailers Association to kick-off the Online Retailer 2 day conference with a Leadership Summit breakfast. Joined by industry leaders, we had a great discussion about maximising business performance through data-driven property insights.
