Exciting news - two of our projects have been recognised at the 2024 Australian Interior Design Awards! Berninneit Cultural and Community Centre was awarded the top honour in the public category, taking home the Award for Public Design. Citation: “Berninneit is a beautiful community space that is light, airy and extremely welcoming. It has an integrated architectural and interior response, which amplifies the sense of connection with the outdoors.” The jury applauded its commitment to sustainability via a Passivhaus approach and use of mass timber, as well as its integration of First Nations’ design principles. Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity (AFSE) Hub, based at the University of Melbourne, received a Commendation for Workplace Design. Our design process focused on drawing Country into the building, evoking the creek line, woodland and outcrop that once lay below, with every aspect of the design prioritising identity of place and economic opportunity for Indigenous peoples. Congratulations to both project teams and thanks to the juries for this recognition. DCWC's Project Management team has been actively supporting STEPtember for over six years, demonstrating a strong commitment to raising awareness and funds for cerebral palsy research and support services. Committing to 10,000 steps every day during September, this year they surpassed their fundraising goal by raising $2000. STEPtember is more than just a fitness challenge; it's a movement aimed at generating awareness and funds for cerebral palsy (CP), which is the most common physical disability in childhood. CP is an umbrella term for a group of disorders that affect movement and posture, resulting from damage to the developing brain during pregnancy or shortly after birth. While it's a lifelong condition, it typically does not worsen over time. CP impacts various aspects of bodily control, including movement, muscle coordination, tone, and balance, and can also be associated with other impairments such as visual, learning, hearing and speech challenges. By participating in STEPtember, DCWC's Project Management team is helping to create a world of opportunity for individuals living with cerebral palsy, making a meaningful positive impact with every step taken and every dollar raised. #STEPtember

Project Update | DCWC is proud to provide pro-bono and low-bono project management and superintendent services for the Manjali Studio School and Indigenous Education and Research Centre (IERC) in partnership with Studio Schools of Australia (SSA), situated on Bunuba country in WA. The prefabricated approach, designed by Lyons Architects and constructed by Hutchinson Builders in Toowoomba QLD, has significantly reduced construction costs. Located on Bunuba country, near Kurrajong Yard, our team recently participated in the open day and Welcome to Country ceremony to celebrate this initiative, which focuses on providing innovative education for Indigenous students in remote Australia. SSA’s ethos promotes community-driven learning, emphasising a holistic approach that integrates academic, personal and industry skills while prioritising culture, language and identity for students and local Indigenous communities. Project | DCWC is delighted to be providing cost management services to the State, invigorating the Perth CBD and by assisting in rejuvenating the Perth Cultural Centre.
$55 MILLION REJUVENATION FOR PERTH CULTURAL PRECINCT The new design for the highly anticipated rejuvenation of the Perth Cultural Centre (PCC) has been unveiled today, with the transformation set to make the icon the heart of the city. The revitalised PCC will connect the State’s major cultural institutions with inviting landscaped areas, enhanced shaded spaces and greenery, and accessible pathways – creating a more welcoming public space for families, tourists, and lovers of arts and culture. It’s brilliant to see another major $55 million investment by the Cook and Albanese Governments in our CBD to rejuvenate the Perth Cultural Centre. The Cook Labor Government is driving the revitalisation of our city and is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to create jobs, economic activity and attract more people to the Perth CBD. Our focus is getting on with transformative projects that encourage people to live in our city – including the rejuvenation of the iconic Perth Cultural Centre, the ECU City Campus, the WACA redevelopment, the Pier Street affordable housing development, and delivering the new East Perth Primary School.
