Buildings with high sustainability ratings secure better market performance, as highlighted by the Green Building Council of Australia. At Dragonfly, our Impact Real Estate strategy moves the dial beyond investing in high sustainability-rated commercial buildings that get good returns. Our impact real estate investments are focused on BioUrbanism - the integration of ecology, climate, and community planning in the creation of urban environments that will seed the cities of our future. Our Chairman, Nigel Sharp shared more about this in his recent LiveWire opinion piece. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gkFi7TmU Reference: www.gbca.org.au

Earlier this year, Economist Impact covered the “top trends for 2024” Phillip Cornell, Global Practice Lead for Energy & Sustainability at Economist Impact shared “geopolitics, technology shifts, and the imperative to transition to sustainable economies and business models will drive corporate and policy decision-making in 2024.” At Dragonfly Enviro Capital, our investment strategy supports the shift for biodiversity and "nature positive" business practices to take centre stage in 2024. Biodiversity #COP16 in October will focus policy attention on assessing and protecting natural capital, and new funds and financial instruments will be crucial in the mobilisation of necessary financing for these initiatives. Other highlights made in this article included the upcoming SEC rules, European Commission mandates, and International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) consolidation bringing the need for comprehensive data and transparency into full focus for all organisations to track and measure their environmental impact. Funding from the Inflation Reduction Act and increased climate financing in emerging markets offer a promising outlook for renewable energy projects. If you’re interested in supporting clear focus on biodiversity and climate investing, drop is a line. #NaturalCapital #Biodiversity #Sustainability #Leadership

We are pleased to share the exciting news of NRN - National Renewable Network has just closed a $1M pre-series A bridge funding round. NRN is on a mission to support the democratisation of access to cheaper, greener energy to benefit the consumer and the planet. They do this by providing Australians with access to greener energy by removing upfront costs of solar and battery systems. Congratulations to Alan Hunter and his team on this fantastic achievement. Forests help stabilise the climate. Restoring balance along with wetlands and other biodiverse ecosystems, they play a crucial role in capturing and storing carbon. In fact, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, forest ecosystems sequester approximately 2.6 billion tonnes of CO2 annually, as well as being home to 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity (IUCN, 2024). Dragonfly invests in companies that are focused on supporting the preservation of our vital global biodiverse ecosystems for generations to come.
