  • Earlier this week, we had the privilege of hosting an exclusive private dining event with Goldman Sachs, EQT Group, and Icon Group. It was an insightful afternoon, featuring Christian Schaefer from Goldman Sachs, who provided an in-depth discussion on global private credit and direct lending opportunities, and Sam Franklin from EQT, who shared valuable perspectives on infrastructure investments. We were also fortunate to hear from Icon Cancer's CEO, Mark Middleton OAM who spoke on the company’s growth and the impact of EQT’s support. A special thank you to Agnes Restaurant for their exceptional hospitality, superb venue, and outstanding service, making the event even more memorable!

We catch up with the CEO and co-founder of ReadyTech (ASX:RDY), Marc Washbourne, who has overseen its growth from early product development in 1999 to leading the ASX-listed SaaS company. A conversation with Steve Byrom of Potentum Partners. Steve is a founding partner of Potentum Partners and has spent 11 years as Head of Private Equity and Investment Committee member at Future Fund, Australia’s sovereign wealth fund. In a slightly different format, we invite you into a discussion we had with Mark Carnegie, a titan of the Australian investment banking landscape and his interest in crypto assets. • Our Associate Advisor, Charles Troian, recently wrote a fascinating article to guide our readers to find focus in volatile markets. “I recently finished reading Stolen Focus by Johann Hari, an insightful investigation into the collapse of humanity’s collective ability to concentrate. Amongst several ideas, Hari argues that as a society, we are obsessed with distraction and, whether we like it or not, our attention is being sold to the highest bidder.” Read the full write-up now on the EW&L website. https://lnkd.in/gNhe6JdT

  • The US Presidential Election will undoubtedly impact markets. Given what we have seen recently, trying to predict anything might seem imprudent. But history does provide a guide to what might happen before and after November. Below are some critical things to consider before (and after) the 2024 election. Before: Will the FED cut? Will J Powell want to go out with a bang?  Will either party come out with even more spending promises, further inflating the deficit?  Will the Democrats pivot to the center or move further to the left? After the election: Will Trump cut Taxes even in the present fiscal situation?  What of Trump’s relationship with China and his onshoring push?  Will history repeat with US equities rallying with a Democratic president, or will US Treasuries do the same if a Republican wins? Will the makeup of Congress affect market performance? We know that’s a lot to consider, but we also know that opportunities will present themselves in markets regardless of who becomes the 47th, and we will assist our clients in taking advantage of them.

  • Access to private market opportunities is not simply a “nice to have.” It is critical for serious investors looking for great returns and a truly diversified portfolio. Private capital markets have historically outperformed public assets over the long term, tapping into non-economic risk premia, otherwise referred to as the ’illiquidity premium’. Ultimately, they provide much lower volatility due to less exposure to both technical and psychological flows, momentum, fear/ greed, and animal spirits. Unlike many Australian investment firms, our approach enables us to provide clients with access to funds management expertise usually reserved for large institutional investors. This gives our clients diversification and scale beyond other wealth managers. • Thank you to our outstanding presenter, Ashmi Mehrotra, Managing Director of J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Private Equity Group (PEG), and everyone who attended our recent private dining experience. Ashmi's deep insights into how the J.P. Morgan team assesses opportunities in the small and mid-market sectors, as well as the broader role of Private Equity, were incredibly valuable. Private market investments consistently outperform public markets, making it crucial for all investors to stay informed about these opportunities. As a business, we take pride in the opportunities we create and present to our clients globally, helping them build wealth today and into the future.
