Providing leadership, Linking Services, Supporting Relationships
About us
As the national peak body for family and relationship services, Family and Relationship Services Australia (FRSA) is committed to strong policy engagement. We have a critical leadership role in representing over 180 FRSA Member organisations and supporting the needs and interests of this strong, diverse and adaptable membership and the children, families and communities they serve. These Member organisations provide family and community services to approximately 400,000 clients from 1,300 outlets across Australia each year amidst an ever-changing fiscal and social landscape. FRSA was established in July 2007 following the decision to a single representative structure. It was identified that the Australian community would benefit from a single, national peak body that would support organisations that provide family and relationship services. Please read more about our history. From our establishment in 2007 to today, we have been an active and effective conduit for information flow between our Members (and other stakeholders) and the Australian Government.

The first webinar in our First Nations focus on Family and Relationship services series will be presented by sarah Decrea from Relationships Australia SA. Her presentation, "Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Leadership is best practice in Child Protection" will be on Wednesday, 14 August 2024 at 12:30PM-1:15PM (AEST). This presentation will focus on the transformative power of Aboriginal leadership in child protection reform. By embracing Indigenous expertise in using Restorative Practice to embed the practice of “high challenge high support” in both our work with families and between each other as sector professionals, we are seeing an innovative way forward that offers hope for sustained change. Family & Relationship Services Australia reposted this
We were asked by Drummond Street Services Inc to co-present at their LGBTIQA+ Family Practice workshop during the Family & Relationship Services Australia National Conference. Lora and Shari presented on the journey as a mainstream organisation having a LGBTIQA+ specific program, from implementation through to where we are today. They discussed the regional context from an intersectional framework and how this framework can broaden understanding of an individual and family experience as well as the work we do. Through this process a case study example was provided showcasing the great work and the outcomes that Qspace can achieve with families particularly when working alongside our other UMFC programs and surrounding community agencies. #umfc #uppermurrayfamilycare #Pride #Pridemonth2024 #drummonstreetservices #qspace #umfcqspace
