Success in 2032 is a team sport! GVLDA-ians joined our Brisbane 2032 colleagues and Games Delivery Partners for a #Paris2024 workshop on Wednesday, where the standout theme of the day was ‘collaboration is the key to success’. The workshops made the most of the Paris Observer Program to highlight what Paris did well and why, and what we can learn from the areas of improvement across key delivery areas including venues and villages, legacy, sustainability, transport, procurement, security, and engagement. We’re excited to work closely with all Games Delivery Partners to ensure Queensland thrives from the opportunity of hosting the Games; before, during and long after 2032. #Brisbane2032 #Collaboration #GamesDeliveryPartners #GVLDA #Elevate2042

We had a fantastic time at the 2024 Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) Conference at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre last week! It was a great opportunity to connect with many of our colleagues across Queensland and share updates on a range of GVLDA projects. We spoke with many regional councils and local businesses, and found the key areas of interest for conversation were: 👥 who is GVLDA and what do we do 🔗 what supply chain opportunities there will be over the next 8 years 🏖️ the tourism benefits for all regions, and 🔎 our digital sport venues finder; Sport Venues Connect https://lnkd.in/gKjvgJtq We really looking forward to continuing the conversations across Queensland councils and industry, and bringing you all on the journey towards 2032! #LGAQConference #LGAQ2024 #GVLDA City of Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast Council

The Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games provide the perfect springboard for transport, mobility and infrastructure projects required across Queensland to happen before the Games, not because of the Games. These legacy opportunities were a key focus of GVLDA CEO Emma Thomas’s address in her keynote presentation at the Roads Australia Industry Lunch at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre last week. With our Elevate 2042 legacy strategy already released, and Transport and Mobility Strategy in the works, we all can look forward to more seamless, sustainable and accessible transport, and better-connected venues, ahead of the Games, during the Games, and for decades after. Michael Ozanne was 19 years-old, lying in hospital with a broken neck, when a chance encounter with the Queensland Wheelchair Rugby Team changed the course of his life. Now, the two-time World Champion and Paralympian from Moreton Bay is encouraging other people with disabilities to "give Para Sport a go, because it could honestly change your life!" With over 50 new indoor courts across 5 new indoor sports centres to be available for community use well before the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, there will be more opportunities than ever before across Queensland for young athletes to have access to life-changing Para Sport.
