Working to enhance the profitability and sustainability of Australian grain growers.
About us
GrainGrowers is a national organisation working to enhance the profitability and sustainability of Australian grain growers. We achieve this through our focus areas of policy and advocacy, grower engagement, thought leadership and active investment in future-focused activities for all growers. Australian growers are at the heart of all that we do and the focus of our work. Our growers are at the heart of all that we do and the focus of our work. We are a powerhouse of regional Australia with 22,000 farm businesses growing around 45 million tonnes of grain, oilseeds and pulses each year for domestic and global customers. There are over 100,000 people directly employed in our sector and we look after 22 million hectares of land. Grain constitutes around 22% of Australian agriculture’s gross value of production. In addition to ingredients for world class food, our grain, oilseeds and legumes are in high demand for livestock feeds, pharmaceuticals, biofuels, and more.

GrainGrowers has today launched a comprehensive report shedding light on the significant implications of the upcoming United States presidential election for Australian grain growers. “While the US election may be taking place half a world away at a time when GrainGrowers members are flat out harvesting, it is vitally important that potential changes in the trade landscape are recognised and fully considered,” says GrainGrowers CEO Shona Gawel. In response to rising trade risks, GrainGrowers is calling on the Australian Government to take proactive measures, particularly by diversifying trade partnerships and deepening engagement with Southeast Asia. As the report highlights, Southeast Asia is a vital region for Australian grain exports and presents significant growth opportunities. Developed in response to grower feedback, GrainGrowers has released a short video series about the Falling Numbers Test to help growers understand the ‘ins and outs’ of how the test is conducted and its importance in protecting the industry's reputation with end users. Videos cover: 🌾 What the Falling Numbers Test is with demonstration 🌾 Impact of weather damage on bread and noodle products 🌾 How weather damaged grain is managed by bakers & noodle makers "I encourage growers to take a few minutes to watch the videos and gain some insights into how customers rely on the falling numbers test as a measure of grain quality. While no one wants to have product downgraded, understanding the issues from a customer perspective is important for Australian growers,” says Dr Sam Nelson Watch Now: https://ggl.pub/4er6ylr Thank you to AEGIC for their assistance in making this video series. #AusAg #GrainGrowers Australian Export Grains Innovation Centre (AEGIC) Ken Quail
