We’re thrilled by the record attendance for our Mental Health Month panel discussion, emphasising the need for inclusive workplaces. “Neurodiversity: A Lived Experience,” featured Matthew C., mental health clinician, and Kristina Dalgleish, Health at Work owner recently diagnosed with ADHD, hosted by Sandene Chetwynd, Head of Learning and mother of an autistic son. It was inspiring to see employees engage and request more content on this topic. We look forward to exploring neurodiversity further and encourage workplaces to rethink hiring practices, accommodations, and online accessibility for greater inclusivity.

Our latest blog post explores a recent $380,000 fine in violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004. This Act mandates that employers provide and maintain a work environment that is safe and free from risks to employee health, including psychological health. In this post, we discuss the charges, Safe Work's recommendations for improving workplace psychosocial safety, the impact of the new 'right to disconnect' legislation, and the best ways to protect your employees' mental health through effective leadership training. We, along with many other businesses, celebrated RUOK Day by participating in our live webinar, "It's OK to Not Be OK." Led by the insightful Dr. Aylin, the webinar covered essential topics like how to check in with co-workers in a safe and mindful way, while also taking care of our own mental health. It gave our team—and others—the confidence to sit with their emotions and start meaningful conversations. We’re proud to have been part of this important discussion and look forward to seeing these conversations grow across workplaces.

Are you feeling pressure to always stay positive? Our latest blog post, "It's Ok, Not To Be Ok," explores how both individuals and workplaces can sometimes take positivity to the extreme. When a workplace is going through a stressful period, managers may lean too far into positivity, unintentionally undermining how people feel and not allowing space for more effective coping strategies. Explore what toxic positivity is and how best to support employees through tough times. https://zurl.co/Wb3C

The health benefits of taking your meetings outside! With more sunny days coming our way, it’s a great reminder that a change in scenery, particularly outside, can be the difference between a unproductive meeting and an invigorating brainstorm. With zoom meetings now taking priority, it’s nice to step outside and mix things up. So why should you take your meeting outside? - Fewer distractions occur when staff are far from their desks - We are more creative when in nature - Nature immersion reduces stress - Employees are more likely to speak up at meetings - Focus improves when in new, interesting environments It’s said that open spaces lead to open minds, so take our advice, find a park or cafe, and get brainstorming.

Ahead of R U OK? Day, we want to remind employers of the importance of making these conversations regular and comfortable. The R U OK? Day website provides a basic resource for workplaces on 'Asking R U OK? at Work'. This is a great way to start the dialogue. https://lnkd.in/e6jSyHm For more comprehensive and tailored training, we encourage you to explore our Leading Mental Health program. This covers all psychosocial risk factors managers need to be aware of and allows for company-specific training. https://lnkd.in/gdZG4S_R We'll check in later. For now, check in on your team! 😃
