We’re a social enterprise helping people with disability lead fulfilling and independent lives.
About us
We are a Queensland-based social enterprise helping people with disability lead fulfilling and independent lives. Over the past 50+ years, we’ve created an integrated network of services to provide people with disability the essentials, routine, and stretch they seek in life. Whether it’s employment, learning, living arrangements, community involvement, or anything else in between – we work alongside people to help them achieve the things they set out to. We do this with the help of our social enterprise businesses, organisational partnerships, and DES and NDIS service streams. We like to think of it as an ecosystem of opportunity. We strive to create an environment where employees openly embrace our mission and vision and can confidently and comfortably live our values every day. We encourage all team members to have ownership of their roles and the impact they have on the lives of people with disability. If you’re looking for a rewarding career with an innovative and diverse social enterprise business, Help could be for you. With our products and services you can create lasting value for your organisation and employment opportunities for people with disability. We can also support you to become an inclusive employer, and see for yourself that inclusion is an asset. We’re actively seeking philanthropic support and partnerships with organisations that share our values and vision, to collectively strengthen the impact of our services. Contact us to explore how we can customise the ideal corporate partnership for your organisation. From site visits and staff volunteering to disability sector speakers, workplace assessments on disability employment readiness, and action planning, together, we can tailor a partnership that makes a real difference.

To create a truly inclusive workplace, it's essential to challenge outdated ideas and recognise that people with disability are less likely to apply for jobs beyond their capabilities than anyone else. It’s time to bust myth #5 of our series! The truth is, people with disability bring a wide range of skills, talents, and qualifications to the workplace, often holding degrees, and certifications. They also bring unique perspectives to problem-solving and task execution – often revealing more efficient or effective ways to approach work. Most importantly, they’re clear on their abilities and are unlikely to apply for roles outside their skill set. We’d recommend staying open to learning from their approach. You might find new ways to tackle tasks! Are you ready to challenge outdated myths and build a more inclusive workplace? Contact us today to learn more about the benefits of inclusive employment. This is part of our “Busting Myths on Disability and Employment” series. Today, on International Day of Care and Support, we’re celebrating the people of Help who provide essential care and support to our clients, Supported Employees, and participants. Their contributions are invaluable, with a lasting impact on individuals and their families. Each day, they support those who come to Help in finding their path, feeling valued, and reaching their goals. But they also go beyond – offering a comforting word, a listening ear, and meaningful solutions. In a world where many face unique challenges, our team ensures that everyone who walks through our doors feels truly seen, supported, and valued. Flexible and individualised approach – SLES at Help! Supporting young people with disability in their transition from school to employment is a critical part of what we do. School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) offers a flexible and individualised approach giving participants choice and control to build a learning path that best suits their needs. Our Pre-Employment Skills Workbooks cover 14 different topics, including career planning, social skills, computer literacy, and more, helping participants explore their interests and gain the skills needed to succeed in employment. It’s like putting together pieces of a puzzle! Our SLES program also includes one-on-one coaching sessions to: • Set and refine employment goals • Get ready for work with skills and experience, and • Find the right job! If you have clients preparing for life after school or know someone who might benefit from our support, we can help them navigate the SLES funding process and tailor services to fit their goals. Whether through SLES or other funding options, we offer employment supports no matter the client’s age. Let’s work together to support individuals on their employment journey! https://bit.ly/3XD4ukP #SupportCoordinator #DisabilityEmployment #OneDoorToOpenMany

We’re proud to introduce Sam, one of Help’s dedicated DES coaches. Since joining us in 2021, she has been transforming lives through her work. Sam's lived experience with disability drives her work, but her true motivation comes from witnessing her clients thrive. In a recent conversation, Sam shared her journey - from growing up with albinism and legal blindness to providing compassionate, tailored support to help others achieve their goals. “There are things I can’t change. In my case, I'll never drive a car or read a street sign, but that doesn’t mean I can’t contribute to society. I tell my clients this, not to discourage them, but to help them reach their full potential,” she shared. Sam’s success stories reflect her dedication, and her mission is clear: “I've always been nurtured, and I think that's what I try to bring to my work as a coach every day - compassion and empathy for those who haven’t received it.” Join us in celebrating Sam and the incredible support she provides to her clients: https://bit.ly/4eNwlED If your client or someone you know need support in their journey to employment, let them know we’re here to help! #DisabilityEmployment #SuccessStories #LivedExperience

Some employers worry that workers with disability may not 'fit in' with co-workers or that clients won’t respond well. But these assumptions are far from the truth. It's time to bust myth #4 of our series! Workplace acceptance and inclusion naturally happen when co-workers and clients see that people with disability are competent, capable, and valuable members of the team. In fact, evidence shows that employees with disability improve workplace morale, foster stronger teamwork, and build meaningful customer relationships. It’s also worth noting that 20% of the Australian population has a disability, so chances are, many of your clients, co-workers, or their loved ones may also have a disability, even if it’s not visible or they aren’t open about it. When employers champion inclusivity and hire people with disability, it strengthens workplace culture, boosts community recognition, and - let’s face it - makes smart business sense. Are you ready to challenge outdated myths and build a more inclusive workplace? Contact us today! This is part of our “Busting Myths on Disability and Employment” series. We’re proud to be among the finalists for this year’s National Disability Awards! Help is recognised in two categories: Excellence in Service Quality and the Media Award. The Excellence in Service Quality Award recognises organisations making significant contributions to the disability sector by providing quality supports, services, and opportunities. Our submission highlighted several initiatives that showcase our ongoing commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture, where people with disability are encouraged to express their views and make decisions about matters that affect them. The Media Award acknowledges projects that raised awareness of disability issues through news or entertainment media. When Help sponsored 'A Few Good Men', hosted by Murray Jones, our aim was to explore the unexpected journeys men face while raising children with a disability and how these experiences shape their lives. As the awards ceremony approaches, we celebrate alongside so many dedicated nominees whose efforts drive positive change in the lives of people with disability.
Mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening - registrations for our National Disability Awards ceremony are now open.✨ 📅 Monday 9 December 📍 Adelaide Convention Centre This important annual sector event honours excellence, passion, vision and commitment to supporting people with disability and an inclusive Australia - all while bringing some fun, sparkle and dance moves to the night.🕺 At the ceremony, you'll enjoy entertainment, refreshments and camaraderie as we applaud our nominees and celebrate finalists across eight categories. There is no one-size-fits-all when providing support to our Supported Employees and clients. We prioritise listening to their concerns and understanding their needs and unspoken desires. Our goal is to support individuals in achieving their aspirations rather than doing it for them. This approach maximises choice and control for the people under our care – one of the pillars of Person-Centred Active Support demonstrated by our work at Help. Take Kevin’s story, for example, a Supported Employee with a visual impairment who works at our Acacia Ridge site. He expressed interest in operating the gluing machine on the packaging line. To ensure his safety, Employment Support Worker Kelepi introduced the task by familiarising Kevin with the equipment while the machines were switched off. With tailored training and ongoing encouragement, Kevin confidently mastered the task, saying, “I couldn’t have done it without Kelepi’s help. He’s a really good support worker who makes me feel comfortable at work.” For Kelepi, seeing Kevin's excitement upon completing the task reaffirmed the positive impact of his support. Our focus at Help is on an individual's capability, not their disability. We’re here to support people with disability in finding and achieving their unique goals and aspirations. Do you have a client or a loved one who could benefit from our tailored support? Contact us today and let us help them! https://bit.ly/46CWFxS
