We get asked frequently at idoba about our name and what it means. When we brought all five companies together to make idoba we needed a new name, and the process of forming that name has become an intrinsic part of our story and who we are. We started with brainstorming and came up with a word cloud of over 400 words that centred on what we stand for but how to narrow that down? ... our amazing technical team stepped in and built an algorithm, which produced two words - eidos - the great word meaning "essence" or "something that is intuited" and Ba - a Japanese concept of knowledge mobilising space. idoba is the phonetic connection of those two words. Beginning her career in Dublin, Ireland, where she worked on medical software, Margaret moved to Australia nearly 15 years ago and continued her software development journey working at both Canva and GO1. Margaret's recent focus has shifted towards sustainability and combating climate change. Inspired by Bill Gates' book, How to Avoid a Climate Disaster, she sought ways to leverage her software skills for environmental benefits. At idoba, she found the perfect platform to apply her expertise in driving technical innovations for a greener future, particularly in new energy, batteries, and electrification projects. With the importance of what today represents, we have had a fun and engaging activity this morning, where we supported our team in a “Conversation Starter” speed connection activity - practicing the art of meaningful conversations, eliminating the go-to of small talk and equipping our team with tools on how to foster and engage in meaningful ways to form new connections and rapport with each other. Followed by a Kit Kat of course! This afternoon we held our “Monthly Leadership Session” and opened this up to our entire ecosystem. Starting with an hour presentation focused on the “Language of Leadership", followed by Melo Calarco delivering an exceptional presentation focusing on how to “Stay Energised as a High Performer”.
