National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is an opportunity for all Australians to learn more about First Nations people and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. Northern Star is proud to support NAIDOC Week 2024 with a number of events across our Australian Operations. To acknowledge and celebrate the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and contractors across our business, we share the following employee profiles that provide an insight into what NAIDOC Week and this year’s theme ‘Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud,’ means to them.

Last weekend, teams from across Northern Star Resources Limited Australian Operations competed in the 2024 CME Surface Mine Emergency Response Competition. These competitions are an essential part of the training process for our volunteers and are designed to promote, encourage and improve mine site emergency response capabilities. Excitingly, our combined Kalgoorlie Operations & Carosue Dam team were crowned this year’s winners! Well done to everyone involved, this is a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of our STARR Core Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results. 

Excitedly, as part of the renewable energy system being developed at our Jundee Operations, the first solar farm blocks have been commissioned and are contributing solar energy to the Jundee Grid. Check out our delivery partners, Zenith Energy update below. https://lnkd.in/gaHNEceb This renewable energy system (24MW wind, 16.9MW solar and 12MW battery storage) once fully operational, will provide up to 56% of Jundee’s power and continue to progress our Company decarbonisation pathway targeting 35% emissions reduction by 2030 and Net Zero Ambition by 2050.

Last week, our Jundee Operations hosted the Wiluna Remote Community School’s 85%+ Attendance Dinner! 23 students along with teachers & parents visited our Jundee mine to celebrate the highest number of attendance award recipients, highlighting the importance of this initiative. The group enjoyed a delicious dinner, prizes and a game of adults vs students soccer. Well done to the students for their continued efforts and thank you to everyone that was involved in organising this fun-filled event.

Excitedly, last week the Jundee Geology and Swick DeepEX Drilling teams broke a Company record drilling the longest underground diamond drill hole, with the end of hole (EOH) measuring 1895.4m! This outstanding result was a technical success in testing mineralisation and stratigraphy at our Jundee Mine. Fantastic Northern Star Resources Limited and Swick Mining Services collaboration to achieve this record!
