Interspan is proud to have been part of this landmark project in Galway with the construction of post-tensioned slabs for The Calatrava Building, a critical element of Bonham Quay Phase 2. This development is reshaping Galway's historic Docklands, transforming an industrial area into a vibrant business hub with four new office blocks totalling 34,405 m² of Grade A office space as well as retail, restaurant and cultural space. This project is the first in Ireland to achieve the prestigious One Planet Living Leadership Standard. The Park Street Cambridge development is a prime example of how post-tensioning technology, innovative engineering, and a collaborative mindset can transform even the most complex construction challenges into cost-effective, high-quality solutions. The development, which includes a triple basement for public parking, retail units, and a StayCity aparthotel, was initially designed with traditional reinforced concrete (RC) slabs. The redevelopment of the Ivanhoe Estate in Macquarie Park is the NSW Government’s pioneer Communities Plus project. It will deliver a mixed-use community with more than 3,500 dwellings in an equitable, tenure-blind plan, offering substantial social housing adjacent to new market dwellings. The first stage, the MAC Residences, features 269 apartments, a childcare centre, and a 3-level basement car park. Partnering with Parkview, Interspan delivered high-quality post-tensioned slab works with a design approach that resulted in significant client cost savings while accelerating construction timelines. The construction industry plays a significant role in mitigating climate change, and post-tensioning, despite being successfully used as a primary slab solution for over 50 years, represents a substantial step in the right direction. CARES Certification: Ensuring Excellence At Interspan, we are proud to be the only post-tension contractor in Australia accredited under CARES APT04 for the supply and installation of post-tensioning systems in concrete structures and CARES APT01 for the production and supply of post-tensioning anchorage systems. This reinforces our position as the market leader in terms of best practice in both quality and workmanship for post-tension works in the building construction space. CARES, an esteemed global independent certification body, plays a crucial role in instilling confidence in the users, purchasers, and specifiers of reinforcing steel and post-tension. It achieves this by implementing a comprehensive system of regulation, testing, and inspection and offers certification schemes for companies primarily within the reinforced concrete sector. CARES certification ensures Interspan complies with the major specifiers' quality requirements, providing additional quality assurance on all its post-tensioning projects. CARES Appendix PT 1 Interspan is the only PT contractor in Australia accredited under CARES APT01 for the production and supply of post-tensioning anchorage systems. The Interspan post-tensioning anchor kit has been developed in-house and tested as a complete system of anchor, block, and wedges in compliance with AS1314 and ETA (EAD 16004-00-0301) requirements, including static load transfer and fatigue testing. The maintenance of this accreditation requires regular audits of our PT kit suppliers to ensure compliance with both the material properties and critical parameter dimensions of our specifications. CARES Appendix PT 4 Interspan is the only PT contractor in Australia accredited under CARES APT04 for the supply and installation of post-tensioning systems in concrete structures. We are, therefore, required to regularly train and assess the competencies of all our site operatives.
