How do you organise your bookshelf? 📚 Last week, our founder Liz had the pleasure of attending a Family Business Association (AU) event at the iconic State Buildings in the Perth CBD. Jeff and Rose Ash welcomed us into their family-run business, bookstore Edicole. It was great to chat with family business owners, to hear about their business journey and ask about their challenges — all while exploring an impressive collection of books. Liz was struck by the comradery and connection between members! She also had a serious dose of book shelf and book stand envy, as she's currently consolidating her book collection into new shelves and she's pondering how to organise them. She started with a summary of the current workplace sentiments in Australia, to ground leaders in the importance of great leadership, communication and employee engagement. We explored the value of diversity, self-awareness and emotional intelligence to improve personal and team leadership. Let me introduce you to the 70 20 10 learning model: 🔍 70% on-the-job 🤝 20% informal 🎓 10% formal Your career/professional development plan and your teams' should have a 70% focus on internal opportunities such as projects and stretch opportunities like a secondment or acting in a higher role. 20% should focused on creating a circle of mentors, a coach and feedback to support your professional growth.
