Today, we stand alongside the Tiwi community as they mourn the recent tragic loss of a Sistergirl in their community. This devastating incident reminds us of the violence and injustice that continues to affect LGBTIQA+SB communities, especially First Nations and transgender communities. Everyone deserves the right to live a life free from violence. The LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation remains deeply committed to ending domestic and family violence, breaking down barriers to accessing help, and ensuring that every member of our community feels seen, heard, and supported. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic, family, or intimate partner violence, please visit The Rainbow Sexual, Domestic and Family Violence Helpline for resources and support. https://lnkd.in/gS9BdGvw #LGBTQ #SeenAndBelieved #EndDV #EndDomesticViolence #NotNowNotEver #StopDV #NoMoreSilence

Did you visit us at Brisbane Pride last month? 🌈 This year, we asked those who visited our stall what their relationship ‘green flags’ were. The goal of this was to encourage reflection about the qualities and behaviours of the people in their lives that help us feel safe, heard and authentically ourselves. What are your relationship green flags? Let us know in the comments below 👇 To learn more about healthy relationships, head to Say It Out Loud: https://bit.ly/3HC8lFa #LGBTQ #SeenAndBelieved #EndDV #EndDomesticViolence #NotNowNotEver #StopDV #NoMoreSilence #NoMoreViolence

This helps us continue our work in developing and distributing resources, educating victims and upskilling the friends, allies, workplaces and communities to identify, respond and support these invisible victims. Today is Bisexual Visibility Day 👋 In the past, bisexuality was used to define people who were attracted to both men and women. However, the term has now adopted a more inclusive definition whereby a person who is bi is a person who is attracted to more than one gender. Today and all days, we celebrate the resiliency, diversity and authenticity of bi+ people around the world and advocate for greater awareness and visibility of bi+ people to ensure they can freely express their sexuality and feel seen, heard and believed if seeking support for domestic, family and/or intimate partner violence. Here’s four ways you can show your support: 💗 Challenge negative stereotypes and biphobia 💜 Share the inclusive definition of bisexuality 💙 Educate yourself about the issues that bi people experience 💗 Help combat bi erasure by not assuming someone’s gender, based on their sexual partner Learn more about the Foundation: https://bit.ly/3SyFmso #LGBTQ #SeenAndBelieved #EndDV #EndDomesticViolence #NotNowNotEver #StopDV #NoMoreSilence #NoMoreViolence [Image Description: Text reads “Today is Bisexual Visibility Day Day, 23 September” The background is a pink, purple and blue flag.]

We are pleased to learn the Australian 2026 Census will now include questions on sexual orientation and gender, but more is needed to capture critical data that will shape national policies and services for LGBTIQ+ people – including variations in sex characteristics. Without this information, we cannot adequately address the unique challenges faced by LGBTIQ+ people in accessing vital services, including victims and survivors of domestic, family or intimate partner violence. In light of this news, the LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation promises to continue advocating on behalf of the LGBTIQ+ community to ensure everyone is included, seen and heard. 💜
