The Health Legislation Amendment (Modernising My Health Record—Sharing by Default) Act 2025 (Act) received Royal Assent on 14 February 2025, establishing a legislative framework requiring key health information to be shared with the My Health Record system. With civil penalties for non-compliance, healthcare providers should familiarise themselves with the new obligations as well as the privacy safeguards and clinical discretion provisions that protect patient autonomy and allow for the withholding of information in certain circumstances. The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) has released its 'Governance Review – Discussion Paper', the first significant update to APRA's governance standards in over a decade. The paper considers the governance of banks, insurers and RSE licensees, and includes eight proposals for changes to CPS 510 and SPS 510 (Governance), CPS 520 and SPS 520 (Fit and Proper) and SPS 521 (Conflicts of Interest).
