About us
Library for All Australia is an Australian not for profit scale-up disrupting the global publishing industry by making high quality, age appropriate and culturally relevant books and educational resources accessible to all, equally. To deliver on this plan, Library for All Australia has developed and launched a globally available digital library application to deliver educational materials in communities where history, poverty, or remoteness are every day barriers to accessing books. The Library For All Australia application hosts a curated collection of engaging content created by an in-house international publishing team who work tirelessly to create children's reading material in partnership with the communities the organization serves. Library For All Australia compliments its digital solution with a scale-able, cost-effective print and distribution service for schools, communities and families. With an ambitious vision to reach 20 million readers globally by 2030, Library For All is already leading the world in creating original Creative Commons educational content and distributing it to developing communities through our digital application, and our print and distribution services. We currently have programs operating in Papua New Guinea, Laos, Timor-Leste and we are expanding throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Join us on our journey to let the world read.

Today, Our Yarning's Program Coordinator and Cultural Advisor, Jessica Wimbus, visited Little Ducks Childcare in Annerley. Jessica presented the Our Yarning program to a diverse range of educators across Brisbane, along with the KU Children's Services inclusion team. What a beautiful spot in the sun to share our collection of First Nation stories. Image description: a yellow and orange wave graphic that includes a photograph. The photograph is of the Our Yarning banner and a table containing Our Yarning books. The photograph is taken outside of the Little Duck Childcare in Annerley. The graphic also includes the Our Yarning logo in the bottom right hand corner. The text: Little Ducks, Annerley, Brisbane is sitting under the photograph.

After nearly two months, the tragic Mulitaka landslide in Papua New Guinea continues to negatively impact the local communities including over 3,000 children. Mathew* (pictured below with his father) is 13 years old. He loved going to school, learning about animals and playing rugby with his friends. He lost his classroom to the landslide. "Mi nidim skul… Mi sa stap long haus nating. Skul nogat, skul graun karamapim", Mathew* told us. Matthew’s* family lost everything in the landslide. Without books and a uniform, Matthew can’t attend school and the family doesn’t have the means to support him. Save the Children is supporting children like Matthew* to process their experiences and to return to school through the setup of Child Friendly Spaces (CFS) and the distribution of important resources for their education and well-being. Over three hundred girls and boys regularly attend the two recently established Save the Children CFSs in Mulitaka. We plan to support even more children to access education with the distribution of recreational kits and school bags as well as a Spark Kit (classroom in a box) containing 36 tablets for offline learning and 2,000 books contextualised for use in PNG from Library For All, a not-for-profit entity of Save the Children Australia. *Name changed #Mulitaka #DisasterResponse #DFAT #AHP #LFA #SaveTheChildren

"The notion that reading children's books as an adult is somehow a step backwards erroneously suggests that our lifelong reading journey is entirely linear." There's a constant narrative that children's literature and picture books are only good as a stepping stone to reading longer, more 'important' pieces. It's simply not true, and Lara Cain Gray, the Head of Acquisitions at Library For All, showcases this fact in her moving and informative piece. Read her article in Griffith Review, and appreciate a side of children's books you may never have realised existed.
Lara Cain Gray takes up the cause of the humble picture book, too long relegated to the domain of the young (and those reading to them). A good excuse to rediscover some beloved classics this weekend.
