Our MCE Management • Commercial • Engineering director Stephen Pascall attended the highly patronaged High Speed Rail Authority (Australia) Industry Briefing held yesterday. The briefing provided an overview of the proposed project and the wider plan for an Australian east coast high speed rail network. MCE welcomes the Federal Government’s investment into High Speed Rail whereby the first stage will connect the nationally significant corridor between NSW's two largest cities, Newcastle to Sydney, bringing many benefits to people and businesses across the State. Speakers included Tim Parker, CEO, HSRA, The Hon Catherine King, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Jill Rossouw, Chair, HSRA and Steve Joseph, Executive General Manager Projects and Commercial, HSRA. The speakers provided great insight into this upcoming project and it’s not hard to see why this exciting news has set the industry abuzz – the first stage of the new high speed railway will see trains run on a dedicated high speed rail line to service Newcastle to Sydney in approximately one hour! Sydney Metro's milestone transport achievement! It’s a happy coincidence that the 10 year anniversary of MCE Management • Commercial • Engineering (MCE) sits in the same week as the opening of the Sydney Metro City Section.   Both MCE and Sydney Metro have grown in recent years to meet the demands and requirements of the projects' worked on. As organisations evolve, change is inevitable but the core values and vision remain the cornerstone. Many of the MCE team, past and present, have had the opportunity to work on this city-changing project. MCE feel very proud to have contributed to the project at different levels and be a part of the legacy it has created.   MCE has worked with many organisations during this time, developing strong relationships through all phases of the project. Last week the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) hosted its NSW Annual Dinner for members and guests at the The Fullerton Hotel Sydney. What a great turnout for this annual networking event and well organised by the ICE Committee, including our own Thomas Lee, the ICE Representative for NSW. Many thanks to inspiring guest speaker Richard Barnes, first man to successfully paddle in a purpose-built ocean going kayak, fully self supported and unaided, from Australia to New Zealand. InMotion Conference - TfNSW's look into future infrastructure projects InMotion is the chance for Transport for NSW and industry to come together to refocus efforts on delivering great projects, services and places for the people of NSW. As Transport’s annual industry conference, InMotion builds on the success of the Pipeline event, expanding its focus from the capital infrastructure program to other key areas such as local manufacturing, regional roads, industry capability and diversity. The event featured NSW Government and Transport for NSW leaders talking to the topics that are shaping the industry and the chance to engage directly with program teams at the project Trade Fair. MCE Management • Commercial • Engineering 's directors, Matt Colton and Thomas Lee attended the event this week on 24 July. "InMotion provided an overview of the current NSW infrastructure pipelines. There was a focus on procurement of new rolling stock for New South Wales and new guidelines on how future procurement must involve Australian businesses. It also looked at the production of the new zero omissions bus fleet. An overview was provided on opportunities to support local councils in completing projects to rebuild infrastructure damaged in recent floods, storms and fires.
