Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) is an independent body building a sustainably skilled workforce for a future-proofed manufacturing industry. We’re here to connect and support you and the broader industry with the skills, opportunities, and information to build a thriving future in manufacturing. Established and funded under the Queensland Government’s Making it in Queensland: Building a Stronger Manufacturing Sector policy in 2022, our vision is to create the skills pathways for the future of manufacturing in Queensland. Manufacturing is vital to Queensland. Our aim is to ensure the industry has a diverse workforce with the skills and capabilities to embrace new and emerging technologies and respond to economic opportunities or challenges vital to improving productivity and global competitiveness. This forum delved into the Queensland Vocational Education and Training system, offering invaluable insights to educators on how to guide young people towards a successful VET journey. Grace Loves Lace, renowned for stunning bridal gowns in Queensland, has achieved a major milestone by completing the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Emerging Industries (VEI) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program. 📢 The June 2024 quarter manufacturing training, skills and workforce update is now available. 📢 Access the latest data about the manufacturing workforce. Published quarterly, MSQ gives you an overview of workforce, and training package information from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and NCVER. 💡 Highlights this quarter include >>> 📈 Queensland’s manufacturing workforce is currently 191,700, the highest since August 2021. 🌏 Strongest workforce growth is seen in regional areas of Queensland. 👩🏭 There are approximately 3,340 manufacturing job vacancies in Queensland, yet 6,300 people report being unemployed, and their last job was in the manufacturing industry. 👉 Engagement with manufacturing apprenticeships and traineeships is strongest in Central Queensland and Logan-Beaudesert regions. Our Industry Engagement Manager for Renewables, Crissy Avery, was in Gympie today for the Department of State Development and Infrastructure Regional Projects Industry Briefing. The Fraser Coast and Gympie region is quickly emerging as a major hub for significant projects. The event highlighted supplier opportunities and procurement schedules for some of the area's largest infrastructure projects. This was a valuable chance for MSQ to engage with industry and government and gain insights into supply chain opportunities for Queensland manufacturers.
