After features and probes are added to a plan, collisions between the probe and the part represented by the intersection of the path with the model are addressed by adding GoTo points, which divert the path around or above the part. Verisurf makes it easy to add GoTo points for multiple features at once, such as features following the probe changes that are used to measure different sides of a part. ⚙️ The features are first selected, and the add GoTo point dialog is then used to modify the path. GoTo points can be added before and or after the selected features. These points move the probe to a clearance plane, a specified distance above the extent of the model in the z axis direction, and individual GoTo points can be removed if necessary. Path simulation demonstrates the benefit of the GoTo points. The path between features is free of collisions and the probe clears the part during probe change articulation. As part of our partner PhD programs with the University of Southern Queensland and iLAuNCH Trailblazer, Ryan Stickland is continuing to work on leveraging digital twin/thread technology to revolutionise aerostructural composite patch repair processes. From Ryan's latest update; "Over the past few months, I have been delving into the fascinating worlds of digital twins, Industry 4.0 and advanced composite materials. It has become apparent to me that this technology is both revolutionary and under-utilised. This presents a world of opportunity to make existing aerospace manufacture and repair processes quicker, cheaper and more sustainable. In the coming months, I look forward to describing exactly how existing processes can be improved, completing my literature review and getting my first publication under my belt!" #digitaltwins #composites #composites
