  • Nova's Employee Conference has been part of the culture since the company began more than two decades ago. Things look a little different now with 700+ people! Over three days in Brisbane last week we: ⭐ heard from our leaders including CEO Dean Rosenfield and Chief People Officer Shelley Willsmore (nee Mearns), as well as guest speakers Andrew Bottrell and Dr Richard Harris, ⭐ learned from subject matter experts across the organisation,  ⭐ celebrated our Directors Awards finalists and winners,  ⭐ took over Southbank for an epic team building activity. We're smart people, who don't take themselves too seriously, so we also had a roaring good time at our 1920s themed Gala Dinner. With offices around the Australia and New Zealand, plus our people often solving challenges for our clients on sites, it's important to Nova to bring everyone together to connect and align on the company goals. Thanks to JP Media (Australia) for helping us pull off this mammoth event, Banana Life for the team building, all of those who delivered sessions or helped out, especially to our Corporate Affairs team Dana Cole and Brittany Harmer. #NovaConnect2024 #WeAreNova #LifeAtNova

  • 🏆 Nova Systems and Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action have taken out the "Environment and Sustainability Award" at the Victorian Geospatial Council of Australia Council Australia Excellence Awards. Working closely with our partner Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, our team developed the Native Vegetation Regulation Map to help respond to biodiversity loss. NVR Map is an online application that underpins legislated native vegetation approvals in Victoria. This application allows users to view a range of spatial datasets relating to the Native Vegetation Regulations and generate Native Vegetation Removal Reports and Native Vegetation Offset Reports. Well done to all involved in this important project. 🌏 🌿 #WeAreNova Dani Bramante John Bradley Sam Le May Lucy Minato

  • In a giant leap for Australia’s space industry, the AROSE team Lunar Rover prototype was unveiled in #Canberra today. Weighing just 20kg and measuring the size of a large suitcase, the lunar rover will be operated remotely to collect soil, ice and other samples from the moon’s surface. It has been designed by a team of engineers and scientists from the AROSE consortium, which includes partners Nova Systems, Fugro and many other contributors. Lead engineer, Dr Sarah Cannard, said she was incredibly proud of the team and journey to date. "The dedication, innovation, and collaboration that have brought us to this point are nothing short of extraordinary,” she said. “This rover represents not just a technological achievement but a testament to what we can accomplish together." AROSE CEO Leanne Cunnold said: “Importantly, we’re also inspiring the next generation of Australians to take up STEM subjects at school and university and developing our national space sector workforce.” AROSE is one of two successful teams chosen for Stage 1 of the Australian Space Agency’s flagship Trailblazer program. The Lunar Rover has been developed to collect lunar soil and gain new information about the moon’s surface via a NASA-science payload. This is a critical step to supporting a sustainable human presence on the Moon, Mars and beyond. Nova’s role on this landmark project includes systems engineering, safety assurance, integration and test – including ensuring the lunar rover will survive the severe conditions on the moon. #AROSELunarRover

  • Test & Evaluation (T&E) engineers upskill in Artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) 👩💻 Professional and Continuing Education at the University of Adelaide and the Australian Institute for Machine Learning (AIML) recently collaborated to develop and deliver a introduction to AI and ML course specifically tailored to our engineers. “Knowing that we needed to upskill in artificial intelligence and machine learning to undertake, and teach, assurance of complex systems, we sought a partner who would work with us in developing courseware to meet industry needs,” Senior T&E Engineer Ben Luther said. “It wasn’t enough for the course to be technically brilliant, it needed to be useable in context and AIML were willing lean into that, meeting us halfway and providing a true sovereign partnership." This collaboration is part of our T&E Centre of Excellence initiative which has a focus on ensuring the long-term sustainability and skills of the Australian T&E workforce. #WeAreNova

  • ANNOUNCEMENT: New partnership with UK-based technology platform CloudRF We're joining forces with CloudRF to bolster our combined Electromagnetic Spectrum (EMS) solutions. Leveraging CloudRF's user-friendly radio frequency software, Nova is able to tailor and deploy cutting-edge capability across Defence and other industries; the result being accessible and assured radiofrequency (RF) planning. Managing Director Andrew Mannix says the partnership is a natural fit for both businesses. "Nova is a trusted partner to defence, industry and government for Electromagnetic Spectrum engineering services," he said. "Whether it be through systems integration via test and evaluation, systems safety and the requirement to bring speed to capability through to our many digital engineering threads, the technology stack we deploy is at the cutting edge in this space.” CloudRF founder, Alex Farrant said the partnership was an exciting opportunity to update strategic tools, introduce tactical RF planning at the edge and realise the full potential of autonomous systems via APIs. “As a disruptive SME, we have fresh technology but not the whole solution. We need the deep expertise of Nova Systems to package and assure this technology and integrate it with established and future systems to solve a problem. “Our API first approach and GPU acceleration means we can offer interfaces for users and machines alike to make decisions in real time. It can be scaled to mobile app users to visualise tactical communications or automated across autonomous and C4ISR systems to improve situational awareness, maintain communications and minimise interference.” Nova Systems and CloudRF will work closely together collaborating on current regional opportunities to deploy cutting edge technology that can be used across a variety of communications-based industries including Defence, mining, essential services, telecommunications and more. #WeAreNova
