Jason Potter is another of our extraordinary ambassadors – However, he is extraordinary for a whole other reason too. Growing up in Perth, Jason and his family were very active including camping, swimming, and riding along the coast taking in the stunning ocean views. 17 years ago, Jason moved to Melbourne and after several visits back to Perth to see Mum, he noticed she did not seem herself. Later, mum (Marilyn) was diagnosed with MS and since her diagnosis, Jason has flown over to take part in every MSWA Ocean Ride he can to show his support. Jason has since decided to embark on the adventure of a lifetime, cycling from Sydney to Perth, and then taking on the 120km MSWA Ocean Ride Challenge! Over 4,000km across Australia and intending to raise over $100,000 to fight MS in support of his mum. As Jason quotes, “If anything, mum is more determined than ever to stay active, such as her daily walks and community volunteering through the Swimming Club in Madia Vale.” Marilyn has also been one of MSWA Ocean Ride’s longest volunteers and will be cheering Jason past the finish line at Ocean Ride this year. Inspiring doesn’t even begin to comprehend how we feel about Jason, and we are so excited to see his journey continue (Yes, he is currently en route, heading over to WA now!) See his journey and donate to his cause here: https://lnkd.in/d4MAjyvz We would love to hear what inspires YOU to ride. Comment your story below❤️

Lewis Currie has been participating in the MSWA Ocean Ride since 2021 and is taking on the next challenge of being one of our inspirational MSWA Ocean Ride Ambassadors. When Lewis’s father passed away from Huntington’s Disease in early 2021, he looked for something to do to help with the grief. “I had been riding for quite a while but when my dad passed away, I found bike rides to be good for my mental health,” Lewis says. He found Ocean Ride supported a range of neurological conditions, including Huntington’s Disease, and was keen to take on the challenge. Coming up to his 3rd year, Lewis expresses that the camaraderie between other riders, support from spectators, and the army of friendly volunteers marking the way make the ride special. With the hope that the future will be more optimistic for future generations, Lewis continues to ride and support MSWA. We are so inspired by Lewis and wish you all the best for your ride this year! 💙

We are excited to share the incredible journey of Craig White, who is also one of our amazing ambassadors. Craig first heard about MSWA through the MS Readathon while attending primary school. Fast forward to 2022, after a 20-year break from cycling, Craig decided to get back on the bike, and participated in his first MSWA Ocean Ride, quickly followed by the MSWA Albany Ride. His vision is a future where everyone, especially those in regional areas, has the support and resources they deserve. Craig is determined to contribute to advancements in treatments and finding a cure for neurological condition. But Craig's journey doesn't end here. He plans to continue riding for many years, continuously supporting MSWA and those with neurological conditions. His dedication and commitment are a true testament to the power of determination and the profound impact that one individual can have on the lives of many. As Craig quotes ‘I am no elite athlete, but I can ride, and ride for a good cause.’ Craigs unwavering spirit serves as an inspiration to us all. Thank you for shining a spotlight on the important work carried out by MSWA. Keep pedaling and making a difference!🚴💚 You don’t have to be an athlete to make a difference! Join us for the MSWA Ocean Ride- Powered by Retravision and make your difference.✨

Established in 2009, the MSWA Ocean Ride celebrates those who are battling or have battled a neurological condition. The MSWA Ocean Ride will take place this year on Sunday, 12 November. 💙 Ahead of this year's event, we have heard some incredible stories of how the MSWA Ocean Ride has supported Clients, and participants and raised awareness of neurological conditions. One of the incredible stories that has been shared with us is Bri’s Story.  Having first took part in the MSWA Ocean Ride - Powered by Retravision last year, where she tackled the 50km with her dad, in honour of both her uncle and cousin. Both of whom have been affected by a neurological condition that impacted their previously active lives, Bri wanted to support him in any way she could. Raising awareness is one of the most important ways Bri wanted to support her family, and encourages others to talk to family, friends and work colleagues to understand neurological conditions and the impacts they can have. Bri has decided to up her challenge this year by taking in the 100km! We are so inspired by her determination, go Bri! 👏
