Last week our CEO, Andrew McConville was out touring the central north-west of New South Wales. Travelling through #Narromine, #Burrima, #MacquarieMarshes, #Trangie + #Dubbo Thank you to everyone in the community who took the time to meet with us. We saw a lot from fishways to fish screens and we heard from locals about topics of most interest to them. The group included representatives from the Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder, Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water and @nswdcceew As always, it's great to be out in the community listening and learning. All feedback helps us identify gaps. It fuels our purpose of Rivers, for generations. #MDBAoutandabout #sharingknowledge #localknowledge #connectiontocountry #wholeconnectedbasin #riversforgenerations

Our people make us great. We love their "buy-in" and commitment to our purpose:💙 Rivers, for generations. We value their passion and dedication to the #mdbateam. We know everyone has commitments outside of work, and we’re proud to support people's personal passions. Take Beau for example. He has an impressive resume. He joined us as a graduate. Then, he became a data visualisation expert. Now, he is working on the 2026 Basin Plan Review. He's also a Defence Reservist. Our flexible work environment supports Beau Byers to pursue his military commitments where he delivers training to soldiers and junior offices. Beau recently nominated the MDBA for the Australian Defence Force 2024 Employer Support Awards. We won for the ACT! It's great to receive this recognition and to support our staff to complete their Reserve commitments. #riversforgenerations #worklifeblance #awards #joblove #workplaceculture #volunteer #YourADF #AusArmyReserve #ADFCareers

🔹 Meet Shona Whitfield: Bridging Connections and Promoting Water Security 🔹 Connecting with Basin people is critical to achieve the balance of social, cultural, economic and environmental outcomes that will protect rivers for generations. To help us with this task the MDBA partners with a network of Regional Engagement Officers (REOs). They use their local knowledge and community ties to build connections. Shona joined the REO network in 2023. She works with communities to ensure their voices are heard in water management discussions. 👉Learn more about Shona’s work in our newsroom article 📔 https://ow.ly/MtpA50TMiBg #localknowledge #rivercommunities #riversforgenerations #mdbateam #murraydarlingbasin #CommunityEngagement

Did you know that the Murray–Darling Basin is one of the most complex and significant water systems in the world? 🌏 Ensuring the sustainable management of water resources is key not only for Australia but for many regions globally facing similar challenges. Last week, our 📍 #Griffith Regional Office had the privilege of hosting 20 water professionals from India as part of a 14-week program supported by the Ministry of Jal Shakti (Government of India). The delegation, consisting of hydrologists, engineers, and modellers from various government sectors, spent a day learning about water management in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. Matt Woodward and the Griffith team provided a comprehensive 'Basin 101' session, delving into the intricacies of the Murray–Darling Basin and showcasing local water operations. The visit culminated in a tour of key sites, demonstrating the region's water delivery system in action. A special thank you to Dr. Jason Reynolds from Western Sydney University for facilitating this valuable exchange of knowledge and expertise. 🤝 At the MDBA, we are proud to share our water management insights while also learning from global experts, fostering collaborative solutions for sustainable water management. #WaterManagement #GlobalPartnerships #SharingKnowledge

Water 🌊 covers roughly 70% of the Earth's 🌏 surface. While water divides many countries and continents, there is much we can learn from each other on how to effectively manage water and care for all environments and people who rely on secure access to clean water. Recently, we welcomed a delegation from the Republic of Korea and were grateful for the opportunity to share and learn from each other. 💬 Discussions covered topics including: ◾ water management in a changing climate, ◾ drought preparedness, and ◾ modernising agriculture. Dr. Young-Jun Jo and Tae-Hyun Ha from the Korean Rural Community Corporation, alongside Dr. Won-Ho Nam from Hankyong National University, visited to learn about Australia’s approach to managing drought and water resources. Our team, including Ian Krebs, Mark Foreman, Krista Clift and Chitra Adhi, shared insights on technology and water management, supported by Dr. Jong Lee. We were also joined by experts from the Australian Government, CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology. We were proud 😃 to share the MDBA experience of Australia’s water management efforts. #WaterManagement #DroughtPreparedness #GlobalPartnerships #SharingKnowledge
