The digital divide is a significant barrier for many in accessing community services. What are the issues? ❌ In-person only providers are limited to providing services within their local community ❌ Rural and remote communities are limited to the service providers within a certain radius ❌ Lack of innovation in bridging this gap means people living with disability are missing out on key providers and services that could greatly improve quality of life, social connection and more So what can be done? To connect the service providers (e.g. a yoga studio in Melbourne that offers online classes for people living with autism) to those who might not normally be able to access this (e.g. a person with autism living in remote Queensland) a digital platform becomes the bridge. Here’s how: 💡 Inclusive, user-friendly design: Accessible platform available to everyone, including those in remote or underserved areas, ensuring equal access to essential services and features such as user-friendly filters, to easily navigate. (This also helps to reduce social isolation) 💡 Built by People with Disability for People with Disability: The Nabooki team includes people with lived experience who play a key role in the technology’s design and function. 💡 Innovative ideas for service providers: Easy to use and set up for service providers who want to offer their services to a wider range of people. Back when I started out, days like #WorldMentalHealthDay weren’t even on the radar. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in bringing awareness of the importance of mental health at work, but there’s still plenty left to do. This year’s theme, “Mental health in the workplace,” is a reminder that our work environment plays a huge role in our overall well-being. After all, it's where we spend the majority of our days and weeks - often more time than we spend with loved ones. At Nabooki, we’re committed to creating a space where mental well-being is a priority and we're also proud to support our clients in creating inclusion for everyone within their business too. The 'little' things like checking in with your team, encouraging breaks, or making space for open conversations are key. For me, it's also my daily ocean swim 🌊 - time to clear my head and be reminded of mother nature's masterpiece at work. Keep the momentum going.
