About us
The Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) is the professional organisation providing member services and advocacy for those involved in and delivering public works and engineering services to the community both in Australia and New Zealand. Increasingly, engineers are working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, rather than working within traditional departments. Public works and services for all levels of government are being provided increasingly by consultants, contractors, suppliers of goods, services and machinery as well as those directly employed by government. Membership criteria for IPWEA has changed from an emphasis on engineering qualifications and position within council, to criteria based on what people do in their jobs. Members come from the wide range of professions involved in public works and services - engineers, asset managers, technicians, public works directors, parks managers, fleet managers, contractors, consultants, and managers.

📣 Speaker Spotlight for Congress! We are excited to have Kim Owen from City of South Perth present at Congress together with Nicola Daaboul of Modelve. The South Perth story is about a city with close to a billion in infrastructure assets shifting from a traditional depreciation-based approach, to a more modern service level, and community facing approach. In line with integrated planning, the City positioned itself to be able to collaborate with its communities and not just produce annual reports. Kim will share how a more modern performance-based asset planning approach was incorporated into rationalisation and financial planning, and how scenarios were deliberated with ELT and council to determine facility level decision making - renew, hold, rationalise or dispose. And how story boards were used in making the complex simple. Don't have your ticket yet? View the full program and register for the Congress via the website: https://lnkd.in/gcx9eHxr
