WHAT A DAY! Yesterday, we facilitated the Maths & Science @ Work Program with great success at Terang College. This program is generously supported by the DemoDairy Foundation. Over 150 Year 7 & 8 students from Terang College, Cobden Technical School, Camperdown College, and Timboon P12 School, participated in hands-on workshops that showed how a range of different industries use maths and science. The workshops allowed students to connect with local industry members, see what career paths their interests can lead them into, and discover applications of math and science that they’d never thought of! The dairy and agriculture industries had a strong presence on the day, being the central focus of many business' workshops.   Thank you to Corangamite Shire Council Mayor Kate Makin and Cr Geraldine Conheady for attending the day, and to volunteers from Rotary Warrnambool Central, South West LLEN and HeadStart for supervising groups. Shoutout to the South West Skills and Jobs Centre for donating a crowd favourite Frank Green drink bottle for a spot prize! A HUGE thank you to the industry participants who volunteered their time and resources to be a part of this incredible day: Deakin University: Medicine, MoD Squad, and Hycel Ridley Corporation Ltd Terang Country Bakery South West TAFE Toot Traffic Wannon Water Saputo Inc. On Friday 16 August, 54 Year 10 - 12 students from Camperdown College, Cobden Technical School, Derrinallum College, Hampden Specialist School and Timboon P-12 College, had the opportunity to explore future career options at the NPL Energy Industry Day in Port Campbell. Sponsored by Beach Energy Ltd, the event connected students with industry professionals showcasing their roles and career paths. The students heard from tradespeople, engineers, technicians, managers, and engagement specialists from three local operators. A panel of Beach employees shared their career experiences and answered students' questions about their professions and the industry. Following the presentations, students toured one of the three Energy Plants; Beach Energy, Cooper Energy and Lochard Energy. While there, they participated in hands-on activities, and learned about the plant’s operations and the diverse roles needed to keep it running. The Energy Industry Day was a fantastic opportunity for students to gain insight into local job possibilities and pathways into chosen fields. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the days’ success! #communityforcareers
