The #NHVR and the Australian Defence Force (ADF) have today released a national notice to better support Defence vehicles to get to communities in times of emergency or disaster. NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto OAM said “The new Notice will help mobilise Defence vehicles to ensure essential supplies and assistance can reach those in need in a timely fashion, and without the need for a permit." Last week, the ##NHVR's Manager Freight and Supply Chain, Brayden Soo, delivered a presentation at the #iMove Our Future Freight conference about how technology can help the industry solve freight challenges. Brayden provided an Australian perspective, and highlighted how vehicles – such as PBS vehicles - are also a technology, and not just a platform for the fitment of other technologies. The #NHVR believes that productivity is not a trade-off with safety or sustainability, and that getting more PBS vehicles onto roads not only improves productivity, but also saves lives and advances decarbonisation. It was great to hear from both Australian and international freight experts, across industry, government, academia and the private sector - to gain a better understanding of the freight challenges the industry is facing and how technology can help to address these problems, as well as to identify any gaps that the #NHVR can help solve. #SafetyFirst
