  • With site works for our Whyalla Hydrogen Power Plant scheduled to begin soon, plans to house the project’s construction workforce are ramping up. We are seeking proposals from short-stay and temporary accommodation suppliers interested in housing workers building the world-leading renewable hydrogen production, power plant, and storage facility.  While maximising local employment remains a priority, the scale and ambitious timeline of the project will require a significant portion of the workforce to come from outside the Upper Spencer Gulf, therefore, increasing demand for accommodation in Whyalla. The Request for Tender is open to local accommodation providers with surplus capacity or plans to expand, as well as new market entrants.  Temporary accommodation providers are also encouraged to submit proposals for the Temporary Workers Village—adjacent to Jubilee Park—or smaller facilities. In addition, we are seeking facility management services for temporary villages, including catering, laundry, maintenance, cleaning, and security. We were pleased to meet with Whyalla's industry leaders during our recent Industry Briefing, which saw close to 20 businesses participate—including many local accommodation providers. The briefing gave attendees a valuable insight into the purpose, timeline and requirements of the Request for Tender process 🔗 Detailed information is available on the SA Tenders & Contracts website, with submissions open until 3 October 2024.
