Last week, we had the pleasure of attending the 2024 Safe Ships Safe Ports Forum, hosted by Pilbara Ports. The program featured a range of local and international speakers covering topics across the four key strategic themes of Resilience & Prosperity, People & Culture, Planet, and Partnerships. OMC International's CEO Peter O'Brien presented on the range of digital risk management and optimisation technologies that support safe and efficient shipping and port operations. These solutions, which include DUKC®, PortWeather and TransitAnalyst, facilitate record-breaking transits and throughput, whilst reducing GHG emissions and minimising dredging. Highlights of the 2024 PIANC APAC Conference included the keynote presentations. Philip Holliday, CEO of Port Authority of New South Wales, mentioned how OMC International's DUKC® had facilitated larger, deeper vessels without the need for dredging. This was reinforced by Marika Calfas, CEO at NSW Ports who noted how Port Botany is ready to handle 15,000 TEU vessels. OMC International's digital port optimization and risk management technologies including DUKC® and TransitAnalyst are used at Port Botany to support safe and sustainable shipping. Shortly after its implementation at Botany, DUKC® facilitated the safe arrival of the deepest ever container vessel into Australia. This record was then broken again only weeks later. OMC also partners directly with shippers to enable them to optimize their own vessel calls. This has led to significant reductions in GHG emissions. June 2024 was a significant milestone for OMC International with a record number of DUKC® transits. Every 32 minutes, a vessel sailed using DUKC® to safely maximize its sailing draft and window.
