Who doesn’t love being radically optimistic? Check out this amazing campaign that saw us hit the streets
About us
Back in 2005, a world-first ‘Plastizine’ (DVD magazine, for the uninitiated) began cropping up all around Australia. It was called PEDESTRIAN.TV. After taking the internet by storm and resonating with Aussies in an entirely new way, PEDESTRIAN.TV graduated from a single digital publication to the home to the strongest media brands creating culture for young Aussies across the broadest platforms. We are PEDESTRIAN.TV, VICE, Refinery29, The Chainsaw, Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Kotaku, Openair Cinemas and PEDESTRIAN TELEVISION. This starts with Australia’s largest youth focused teams of journalists who understand the trends and topics that make their distinct audiences seen. Our partnerships and production teams provide award-winning client solutions to Australia’s biggest and most innovative advertisers, driven by insights and unfiltered creativity. Entertainment to cooking, dating to gaming, beauty to bitcoin and beyond; we are wherever young Aussies are. We are the voices not in the business of culture, but actually in culture.

Exactly 8 years ago I was employee number 5 on a wild ride to reinvent Fairfax Media led by Chris Janz. ‘Project Blue’ sounded so crazily ambitious - rebooting a 180 year old publisher in secret and then taking over the business - that I asked Chris for proof that the board knew he was doing it! Two years later we had returned the business to revenue growth in both print and digital and made it insanely profitable. I have never been so proud of a professional accomplishment - we had ‘solved publishing’. Then 5 years ago I came to Pedestrian Group after the Nine merger. We had to find a way to integrate the Allure brands and build on the success of Chris and Oscar with PEDESTRIAN.TV. As a result we won Publishing Company, Publish Leader, Brand, Sales Team, Studio team of the year and many other awards multiple times along the way to financial success. We launched VICE, Refinery29, The Chainsaw and our own television channel PEDESTRIAN TELEVISION. I have never had so much fun in a job and I thank everyone who helped achieve all of that, especially Rachel Tikey, James McManus, William Sutton, Sarah Michael, Vanessa Lawrence and John-Paul MacCormick. The stage is now set for a new team with Mason to reinvent Pedestrian Group for its next success. In leaving Nine I’ll also be finishing up my second stint as Chair of IAB Australia. I want to thank Gai Le Roy and her team as well as the rest of the board for doing such great, important work as the United Nations of digital advertising. A tough gig! Thank you all for the friendship and lols, may they continue through what’s next. LYB for now

Happy Fri-Yay! This month, we're excited to shine the spotlight on Alex Arnott, our amazing Channel Manager for PEDESTRIAN TELEVISION. What is your role at PG? Channel Manager for PEDESTRIAN TELEVISION Tell us about your journey at PG. I came from a TV programming background, and was brought to PG to establish their own telly channel, our glorious chaotic child PEDESTRIAN TELEVISION. I got to throw myself into so many areas of TV work that have in past workplaces been separated into different departments. Things like acquisitions, product, marketing, producing, booking talent, and, my personal nemesis, classifications. What is the favourite part about working for PG? Being amongst people who get it! The collective knowledge of the PG staff is next level, and it ranges from knowing intuitively who Charli is singing about on Brat, to the best anime series of the past 6 months, to the editorial teams knowing stuff about the economy or whatever. Everyone knows their shit back to front, and are so willing to share their expertise to get the best possible results. So, lame but true, it's the people. What is your proudest moment at PG? Launching a channel is pretty epic, especially being the first FAST channel for 9Now. But my personal favourite was organising the most kick-ass talent show to farewell one of our colleagues. Is that bad to say? What advice do you have for prospective PG candidates? Stand out! Figure out what you know down & work out how to communicate it, no matter what role you're applying for. The projects everyone works on can vary so much, so find out what you can add and then sell sell sell, bb! And don't wear a suit to the interview, you'll stress out the creatives. #employeespotlight #culture #media #Pedestriantelevision

Jessica Gilliland: "Jack Jones is... " Jack Jones: "GAY!" How's that for a proud start to lively session?! We were honoured to attend EssenceMediacom's Pride Month celebrations and have meaningful convos about queer pride and allyship. EssenceMediacom's CEO, Pippa Berlocher, joined us as an ally alongside our all-star panelists Jack Jones and James Emmanuel, with Jessica Gilliland expertly moderating the session. We explored the true meaning of Pride and its vital place in our communities, how brands can authentically show their support, avoid the pitfalls of rainbow-washing and practical ways individuals can support and uplift the LGBTQ+ community as allies. Thank you, EssenceMediacom AUNZ, for creating a vibrant space for these important conversations. Let's keep the momentum going and continue to champion diversity and inclusion every day.
