World Snake Day is celebrated annually on July 16th to raise awareness about the preservation of snakes and to recognise the vital role they play in the balance of nature. People For Wildlife is conducting population studies on snakes in Northern Australia and supporting conservation of snakes around the world. At #peopleforwildlife every day is #worldsnakeday 🐍💚 #natureforeveryone #snakes

We have the privilege of working on Apudthama, on Cape York Peninsula, the traditional lands of the Angkamuthi, Atampaya, and Gudang-Yadhakenu people. The Cape York Peninsula, in Australia’s far north, supports heathlands, dune vegetation, savannah, rainforest, wetlands, and mangrove vegetation. #WondersofApudthama #PeopleForWildlife #Conservation https://lnkd.in/gMxMpWVD

Apudthama in #CapeYork. over 400,000ha of high #biodiversity landscapes, including rainforests, wetlands, woodlands, and reefs. A third of Australia’s mammal species and half of the bird species are found in the Cape. But little is known about the region’s biodiversity or the impacts of climate change, land clearing, changed fire regimes, introduced predators, invasive plants and animals, and disease. #PeopleForWIldlife has partnered with Louis Vuitton and Apudthama's Traditional Owners, represented by the Apudthama Land Trust, to deliver conservation work across the reserve. #ForNature #Conservation

It’s #WorldRainforestDay and 2024 is the year of action. #PeopleForWildlife engaged landscape restoration expert Geoff Onus to help us prepare to restore #rainforest on #CapeYork Peninsula. Did you know... 🐸 Half of the world’s #biodiversity can be found in rainforests 🌳 Rainforests absorb and store up to 30% of global carbon emissions 🌍 Scientists agree that protecting rainforests is critical to ensuring a climate-stable future 🪵 Only 36% of our planet’s original rainforests remain intact Today and everyday, we celebrate these critical ecosystems and their guardians. #ForNature #Conservation #WondersofApudthama

Interesting article about building resilience into #rainforest by future planning for climate change. People for Wildlife recently engaged landscape restoration expert, Geoff Onus from North Queensland Land Management Services to assess several hectares of degraded country to replant with Lockerbie Scrub rainforest on #CapeYork Peninsula. While still early days, and with Geoff's guidance, we will aim to return this landscape to its former glory. #GenerationRestoration #PeopleForWildlife #Apudthama 🌳 🌳 🌳 https://lnkd.in/gcaqWQCc
