It’s #WorldRainforestDay and 2024 is the year of action. #PeopleForWildlife engaged landscape restoration expert Geoff Onus to help us prepare to restore #rainforest on #CapeYork Peninsula. Did you know... 🐸 Half of the world’s #biodiversity can be found in rainforests 🌳 Rainforests absorb and store up to 30% of global carbon emissions 🌍 Scientists agree that protecting rainforests is critical to ensuring a climate-stable future 🪵 Only 36% of our planet’s original rainforests remain intact Today and everyday, we celebrate these critical ecosystems and their guardians. #ForNature #Conservation #WondersofApudthama

Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay. All over the world, ecosystems are threatened. From forests and drylands to farmlands and lakes, natural spaces on which humanity’s existence depends are reaching a tipping point. This is why World Environment Day 2024 focuses on land restoration, halting desertification and building drought resilience under the slogan “Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration.” Successful land restoration requires an approach that uses knowledge, drive and ambition across all generations. Everybody alive now is part of a generation that is the first to witness the devastating effects of environmental degradation and the last to take measures to counter it and be on track to achieving global goals on climate and biodiversity. We can be the generation that finally makes peace with land. We can be #GenerationRestoration. Let us join hands together to be part of that Restoration journey today. #GenerationRestoration #TRALEXHO #Safefood #Traceability #Sustainability #WorldEnvironmentDay2024

#GenerationRestoration Environment is not something that’s external. We live in it; we are part of it. It’s the air we breathe; it’s the water we consume and the land we live on and the land that feeds us. We pursue economic growth at the cost of the environment - we pollute the air and water; we contaminate and degrade the land, mindlessly. It’s time we look at the damage we have created. Many species of animals and plants are extinct due to our greed. We have altered the #biodiversity irreversibly. We are also paying the price: rising levels of oceans, increasingly more severe climates - hotter summers with droughts, colder winters and excessive rainfall all wreaking havoc on us. It’s time to #rethink & #reset There’s a #limittogrowth through mindless exploitation of nature & environment. Let’s resolve to #reduceemissions Let’s #conservewater and avoid #landdegradation Let’s preserve the #biodiversity through conservation of #rainforests and #aforrestation #WorldEnvironmentDay

Today is World Wetlands Day, and we’re reflecting on the crucial role of wetlands for our planet. Nearly 90% of the world's wetlands have been degraded since the 1700s, and we continue to lose them at an alarming rate, three times faster than forests. These ecosystems are not just beautiful; they are vital. 🌎 Wetlands are biodiversity hotspots, helping sustain countless species. 🌿 They play a significant role in climate mitigation and adaptation. 💧 They are a source of freshwater and support local economies. At Grasscrete, we understand the importance of sustainable solutions. Our permeable paving systems align with the theme of "It's Time for Wetlands Restoration." By prioritising permeability and water management in urban environments, we contribute to restoring the balance between concrete landscapes and wetlands. #WorldWetlandsDay #WetlandRestoration #Biodiversity #WaterManagement

Today, on #WorldWetlandsDay, let's celebrate and appreciate the invaluable #ecosystems that #wetlands provide to our planet. Wetlands play a crucial role in maintaining #biodiversity, filtering water, and mitigating the impacts of #climatechange. Home to diverse #flora and #fauna, wetlands are essential for numerous species. They act as nurseries for fish, offering a breeding ground for #aquaticlife. Additionally, wetlands serve as natural buffers, reducing the severity of #floods and protecting coastal areas. Despite their importance, wetlands face various #threats, including #pollution, #urbanization, and climate change. As stewards of the #Earth, it's our responsibility to raise #awareness and actively participate in the #conservation and #restoration of these vital ecosystems. Let's use this World Wetlands Day to educate ourselves and others about the significance of wetlands, and commit to preserving these remarkable areas for the well-being of our planet and future generations. #WorkingForABetterTomorrow!
