Last week, our CEO Arthur Psaltis, had the privilege of interviewing John Flecker, Global CEO of Multiplex, at the prestigious 31st Dr. George Hondros Memorial Lecture held at the The University of Western Australia Club. The event was a resounding success, and the insightful discussion with John was truly inspiring for the students and industry professionals in attendance. As a token of appreciation for his significant contributions, Arthur was recognised by UWA for nearly two decades of service on the Civil Engineering Industry Advisory Panel, including a decade as Chair. The recognition was bestowed by distinguished representatives including Professor Tim Sercombe (Dean of Engineering), Mr. Tim Colmer (Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor), and Professor Scott Draper (Head of Department, School of Engineering, Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering). This acknowledgment is a testament to Arthur’s dedication and commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry and fostering the development of future generations of engineers at UWA.

Congratulations to Mina Rouhollahi, our very talented BIM Lead - Civil, on earning your PhD in Environmental Mathematics. This is an incredible achievement and we are beyond proud to have you as part of our team.
I can proudly say that I've been awarded a PhD in Environmental Mathematics: A #Nature-based mechanism to #optimise #energyeffiency and local policy for #Australian #residential #neighbourhoods. I officially graduated after insanely tough years, various challenges and two times migrations; living far away from my comfortable zones! Several years of studying and research while working full times, being busy with growing up a gorgeous child and giving up many many weekends and holidays, this came in this year!! It was an almost impossible job to do, but it's done now, the most challenging but rewarding experience of my life.... My special thanks go for my bestie, Yaser Saeidian, who was part of my long and winding journey- I trust you know who you are to me and how much your unwavering support have meant to me; Love you! My deepest gratitude to my supervisor, Prof John Boland for the seamless support and invaluable guidance throughout these years ;who always inspired me to continue this academic journey and work on the research that I believe, has the potential to make a difference.I am always grateful for this opportunity to work with such a talented and accomplished supervisor. A huge thanks to my co supervisors Dr. Monica Behrend, Prof. Josh Byrne and Dr. David Whaley; who kept pushing me to do better and level up my design and research capabilites throughout this journey. Lastly, I would like to say a sincere THANK YOU to my mom and dad for being with me; your presence and belief in me have been an immense source of strength and motivation and I love you so much. #Design does make places better and this is what I am passionate about....I am practicing #sustainability in a variety of fields including architecture, landscape architecture, urban infrastructure, software optimisation, built asset information management and digital presentation across multiple projects for more than 18 years! What I am most proud of are the projects and places where the process of optimasation was as enjoyable as the outcomes....So life changes so do we.... Where to from here? Will stay in industry, go back to academia, do a hybrid of both? Not sure yet... but I am exited about where my future opportunities may lead....

Pritchard Francis team members Daniel Rose, Mina Rouhollahi, Gabriel Barbero Pisani, and Shirley Gomes are stepping outside their comfort zone and abseiling 130m down the Central Park Tower to help raise burns awareness and vital funds to support the Fiona Wood Foundation. Burns are a life-altering event. They cause immediate and long-term traumas to mind and body and are arguably the most painful, unique and complex injury a human can suffer. The goal is to minimise scars worn for life, both in mind and body. The Foundation translates their research into innovative treatments and technologies, evidence-based burn research and prevention education initiatives that significantly impacts clinical care and raise burns awareness and first aid knowledge within the WA community and beyond. Our team are fundraising for the Foundation and we are reaching out to our clients to support this important cause and our team – the Pritchard Francis Plungers. How do we reduce the stigma around illness at work. Dealing with an illness and continuing to work is courageous. But sometimes work colleagues and others are presumptuous about how people should be managing their illness. This is a very personal decision, and different for everyone. Having a supportive and psychologically safe work environment helps immensely. In a sign of support for Emily Long, a close and dear work colleague fighting an illness, I decided if she is willing to change her hairstyle to match mine, then I can change my hairstyle and embrace hers. Sometimes the littlest of things mean the most to people.

We’re proud to be involved in the groundbreaking Onslow Iron Project, where our team has pioneered a haul road design to suit Mineral Resources’ innovative autonomous vehicles. These vehicles, with a GCM of around 430 tonnes (10x the weight of typical heavy haul trucks), are a first for Western Australia. To accommodate these massive vehicles, we’ve incorporated a state-of-the-art barrier system designed using finite element analysis. This innovative solution is not only essential for this project but also has the potential to be adopted by Main Roads WA and other road authorities on future projects. We’re thrilled to be contributing our expertise to such pivotal projects in WA and providing cutting-edge engineering solutions for the transport sector. #engineering #innovation #WesternAustralia #autonomousvehicles #infrastructure #PritchardFrancis https://lnkd.in/grjSNWTs
