This year, QIC sponsored the 2024 PropConnex National Real Estate Competition in #Sydney, where Australian university students came to present creative solutions to a property investment scenario and compete for a spot in the international finals. QIC supported The University of Queensland, with Sajanie Tennekoon, Kirsten Newman (née Steffensen), Erin Clark and Tom Brindle providing mentorship and equipping the students with skills that will ready them for the property and funds management industry. While the team did not progress to the international finals, the judges, which included QIC's Briar Dowsett and Jacinta Mills (née Goutama), praised their talent and creativity.

Congratulations to QIC #Infrastructure portfolio companies Pacific Energy and Brisbane Airport Corporation, who have signed a milestone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) deal. It is Pacific Energy’s first east coast BESS deal and includes the design, manufacturing and commissioning of a 336kWh customised BESS to support Brisbane Airport's #sustainability pilot program. The program will trial the benefits of battery storage in Brisbane Airports, including demand reduction, excess #solarenergy storage and power quality support. Expected to be operational by year-end, this project underscores both QIC and our portfolio companies’ commitment to advancing Australia’s #energytransition.
We’ve signed our first east coast BESS deal with Brisbane Airport Corporation! We’ll be designing, manufacturing and commissioning a 336kWh customised battery energy storage system, which will be delivered as a part of our client’s sustainability-focused pilot program to learn about this future-proofing tech in a consumer energy resources (CER) setting. The program will trial the benefits of battery storage in Brisbane Airports electrical network, including maximum demand reduction, storage of excess solar generation and power quality support. CER is expected to play a major role in Australia’s energy transition, and we’re excited to be a part of this important project that will help create an energy system that is reducing emissions and costs and increasing flexibility and reliability. The BESS is expected to be operational by the end of the year. #CER #cleanergreener #fuellingthefuture #powergeneration #BESS #batteries
