🚀 AIOps continues to take IT operations efficiency and automation to the next level, with AIOps enhancing both performance predictability and cost optimisation of infrastructure and applications. For numerous years, Quinticon has been helping customers with automation of their infrastructure systems, plus providing FinOps services. We’re now seeing how current AIOps tools are helping customers become even more cost optimised without increasing the risk of reduced performance that would result in IT not meeting business and user expectations. 🔍 A challenge with cost optimisation (whether cloud or on-premise) where typically the size of infrastructure systems is scaled back, is then assuring that the required level of performance is always available. AIOps tools leverage ML to go beyond what FinOps practitioners and traditional tools can achieve – taking automated actions to deliver better cost, performance, and reliability outcomes. 💼  Our FinOps and Infrastructure (including VMware) Cost Efficiency services are significantly enhanced when powered by AIOps tools, such as Turbonomic, allowing us to add even more value to customers. We are seeing an increased number of customers leveraging AIOps tools across more IT areas, with the benefits growing within larger scale and more complex environments. 🛠️ While many customers already have tools that leverage AIOps, there is likely a lot more AIOps can do for them. AI capabilities are rapidly developing, and as customers become more comfortable trusting them, AIOps tools will significantly change and benefit the way IT teams operate. ✨ It’s amazing what modern AIOps tools can do. Reach out to Geoff or Alex if you would like to discuss AIOps and how it’s enhancing automation of infrastructure-related systems and FinOps outcomes.

𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Reducing costs is a universal goal – optimising your infrastructure is vital. Your on-premise infrastructure environment is likely not as cost-efficient as it could be. Companies engage our FinOps services to help them get a more cloud cost optimised environment. Now they’ve started engaging with us to help make their VMware environment more efficient to address the licensing changes Broadcom have announced. As well as FinOps (cloud) and VMware optimisation, Quinticon also helps customers identify opportunities and reduce costs across their on-premise infrastructure systems. Many customers may not realise how many ways there are to save costs within their on-premise infrastructure. Below are some of the types of questions we discuss with customers to help them starting to consider their on-premise environments, hopefully these assist if you’re interested in this area. Quinticon’s Infrastructure Cost Efficiencies (ICE) service gives customers a better understanding of their infrastructure costs and develops a comprehensive plan to reduce their infrastructure spend. Reach out to us if you would like to find out more.

Following the acquisition of VMware by Broadcom, there have been several changes to VMware licensing announced. Customers are becoming aware their costs will be increasing and in some cases by significant amounts, with one customer reporting it looks like being a nearly 10x increase. Quinticon has been helping customers understand and optimise their virtualisation environments for many years as part of our Infrastructure Cost Efficiencies service. Recently, we developed a VMware Cost Efficiencies service focused on helping customers understand the impacts of the VMware licensing changes, assess their options and point them toward achieving an optimised environment. Reach out to if you would like to receive a brochure relating to VMware Cost Efficiencies. For a limited period, Quinticon is offering a zero cost workshop with one of our consultants.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝘆 Reflecting on our own strengths and areas for growth can be both enlightening and challenging. We all feel good about our strengths but if you are looking to improve your skillsets, sometimes you need to honestly assess those "areas for growth".   A tool Quinticon uses when assessing strengths and areas of growth is called the "consciousness hierarchy". There are four stages of consciousness in this hierarchy. Let's use the example of giving presentations for context:   𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 – this is not good, (but where we all start), this means you don't do something well, but far worse than that, you're unaware there is a problem. This is the beginning of the journey; without self-awareness and self-analysis you may get stuck here for a long time.   Your presentations suck but you don't know they suck.   𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 – now we're on the right path, you don't do something well, but you have looked inside and have identified that. Great, now we can put a plan in place to fix it.   You have reviewed your presentation style against tips and tricks online and have found gaps, you have also asked your colleagues for their advice and received some constructive feedback. Your presentations still suck but at least now you know it and know the reasons why.   𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 – now you're talking, you have put in the hard yards, consciously improved yourself and you can now do something well, despite having to think about it each time in a continuous quest for improvement. You have executed your improvement plan and are starting to see the benefits. Your presentations are sharp, meaningful and you regularly receive positive feedback.   𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 – you made it! You have been consciously developing your skills for some time and have lots of experience, you can now do something well without having to consciously think about it each time.   You automatically deploy powerful presentation techniques and can think on your feet with little preparation.   How to deploy the competency hierarchy: 1️⃣  Plot your strengths and areas of growth into one of the 4 stages of consciousness 2️⃣ Validate each strength and weakness with a mentor, colleague, or friend to see if they agree with your self-assessment 3️⃣  Construct plans that will enable you to improve on each area of growth (and strength if necessary) and allow you to move up to the next level within the consciousness hierarchy 4️⃣  Schedule regular reviews and checkpoints with yourself and with your colleagues and mentors. See how quickly you can turn your areas of growth into less of a weakness and eventually a strength   If you have followed the steps above, you have unknowingly started to move another skill up the competency hierarchy and in our opinion, the most important skill required to be successful, the skill of self-awareness!

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗲 is a psychological state where you doubt yourself, your skills and don't believe that you are worthy to fulfil a role!   You may feel you do not have the experience, may be younger than everyone else, may not be as qualified, may not be as articulate or confident. You are worried that you will be caught out as a fraud. It usually takes the form of a feeling that "I can't do this job" or looking at others displaying a particular skill and thinking "I'm never going to be able to do that".   These feeling are often not true, and with the correct mindset and application, you will be surprised how quickly you become comfortable within a role.   Some coping mechanisms that Quinticon employees have fed back as having helped them include:   🔸 𝗔𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Recognise imposter feelings and understand that all people from graduates to CEOs have experienced this in their career. 🔸 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: Challenge negative self-talk and replace it with positive affirmations. If you have been given a new role, that is on your own merit. Someone has seen something in you which they believe is worth investing in. 🔸 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗜𝘁: Share your experiences with trusted friends, colleagues, and mentors. Most people will be able to relate and provide external perspectives which can be more positive than how we critically assess ourselves. 🔸 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Keep a record of your successes to counter feelings of inadequacy. It is easy to focus on things that don’t go well, so capturing successes can force you to take a balanced view. 🔸 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀: Celebrate and enjoy successful milestones, no matter how small.   If you really want to get the most out of your potential, progress within your career and achieve financial rewards, consider placing yourself in growth situations wherever possible. Roles that you're comfortable in rarely offer a fraction of the growth that stretched roles will.   𝗕𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱, 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻, 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄.
