>> Important Update on Australia's Migration Reforms As part of the reform measures outlined in the Migration Strategy, the Australian Government has introduced the National Innovation Visa and implemented changes to the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) (subclass 482) visa. Effective 7 December 2024, the TSS visa has been reformed and renamed as the Skills in Demand (subclass 482) visa. These changes are designed to support Australian businesses and industries in attracting skilled migrants who contribute significantly to the Australian economy and fill roles where no local workers are available. The National Innovation Visa (NIV) is a selective program focused on high-calibre, talented migrants. It aims to attract both established and emerging leaders who can drive investment and job creation in key sectors of the Australian economy. The Skills in Demand (SID) visa offers a streamlined pathway for skilled migrants, enhancing worker mobility and providing a simplified process for employers to secure the skilled workforce needed to support business growth. The Department of Home Affairs is hosting a second series of information sessions to provide further insights into these new visa programs. Stakeholders are encouraged to attend and share this information with others who may find it relevant.
