🌟🎉 2024 Night of Celebration 🎉🌟
Last Wednesday, we hosted our 2024 Night of Celebration at the stunning KPMG Australia Headquarters, and what an incredible evening it was! Over 70 students and industry sponsors joined us in our venue overlooking the Southbank skyline 🌇 With such fantastic turnout and growing support, this event marks the start of a new chapter for Robogals Melbourne 🌱
The night was filled with delicious food (never forget those curly fries! 🍟), inspiring speeches – special thanks to keynote speaker Illyse Schram – and meaningful networking.
We kicked things off by honouring our incredible 2023-24 sponsors: KPMG, Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG), Optiver, Wood, and TfA Project Group. Their tremendous support enables us to care for our robots 🤖 and transport our hardworking volunteers around an ever-expanding radius of STEM workshops 🚗 Our sponsors are instrumental to our mission of challenging gender inequality in STEM and building a brighter future for every child ☀️
We also had the honour of announcing our newest Bronze Sponsor, Inline Real Estate! While their presence in the STEM world is unconventional, their commitment to the local community is exactly the kind of support that makes an impact 🏠
The evening then opened up to a vibrant networking session 🌠 We were thrilled to be joined by Infrastructure, Assets & Places Partner Julian Watts and industry representatives from KPMG, Wood, Versent, Jacobs, Macquarie Group, Talaria, Real Time Learning Australia, and AI CUBED. We were also so excited to have Jarrod Yeoh and Albert Li from the Unimelb Rover Team (a fellow Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology club ⚙️) join us. This was a fantastic opportunity to connect, share insights, and explore collaboration in the STEM community 🤝
A special part of the evening was our awards ceremony, where we recognised the incredible dedication of our volunteers! We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who have achieved 10+, 25+, 50+, and 75+ hours of volunteering 💗 Each of your hours contributed to our 100+ workshops and reach of 2000 students (over 1000 girls) across Victoria this past year. You make a world of difference! 🌍
🏆 And a huge congratulations to our special award winners:
Volunteer of the Year: Lisa Yamamoto
Rising Star: Caryn Kesuma
Innovator of the Year: Natalie Smith
Finally, a very special thank you goes to our 2023-24 committee. You’ve created a legacy that the 2024-25 committee is excited to carry forward! Your hard work and vision have given us a solid foundation to build on and inspire the next generation of Robopals. Thank you for creating a community where everyone feels valued not just for their work, but also themselves💖
To every student and industry partner who attended, thank you for making this night unforgettable ✨ Here’s to a phenomenal year ahead!
